La première de la pièce a eu lieu lors du concert d'hiver du “Blasorchester” Siebnen (BSO) en 2021. Le groupe se compose de 54 membres, basé à la caserne Johan Willem Friso à Assen. Une partie importante des activités de l’orchestre se déroule au sein des forces armées comme une sorte 'd’orchestre maison'. En outre, le groupe a des fonctions de représentation au nom des forces armées néerlandaises, donne régulièrement des concerts, participe à des parades ??au Pays Bas et à l'étranger. Par ZIEGELBACK ANDREAS. Bleak Forest is a piece for smaller concert bands and offers the musicians above all space to improve their sound and their effect playing. The technical requirements are therefore deliberately kept low. With this piece, the composer won the VLAMO International Composition Contest 2022. Thematically, the work is influenced by the composer's childhood memories. In his hometown there was a dark and mysterious forest, that seemed to the children in the small village to be magical. Without a reasonable explanation, every trip into the woods was exciting and somewhat terrifying. There were tales of dangerous animals, which can be heard at the beginning of the piece, as well as magical beasts. The magic of the forest is depicted musically from bar 70 in the andante section. The snapping of the fingers represents single raindrops. From bar 99 onwards, we hear the trek home, with the occasional moments of trepidation as the children spook each other with their fanciful tales. In the end, though, we arrive safely at home because after all, magical beasts only exist in fairy tales… don’t they? Andreas Ziegelbäck studied music education at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and history at the Paris Lodron Universität, Salzburg. In addition to his studies, he trained in ensemble conducting for wind orchestra with conductor and composer Thomas Doss. It was Doss who sparked Ziegelbäck’s interest in composing. In 2021, Andreas Ziegelbäck completed his composition studies with Johannes Maria Staud. Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864) était un compositeur d'opéra allemand, d'origine juive, qui a été décrit comme peut-être le compositeur de musique de scène ayant eu le plus de succès au XIXe siècle. Sa carrière publique, de 1831 jusqu’à sa mort (période pendant laquelle il resta une figure dominante dans le monde de l’opéra) fut résumée par Hector Berlioz, son contemporain qui affirma : « il a non seulement la chance d’être talentueux, mais le talent d’être chanceux ». Ses œuvres ont fait de lui, le compositeur le plus joué dans les plus grandes maisons d'opéra du monde au XIXe siècle. Giacomo Meyerbeer composa son opéra Le Prophète en 1849. Dans cet opéra un couronnement est précédé d'une splendide marche. Bien que l'opéra lui-même soit rarement joué, la Marche du couronnement a une place importante dans le répertoire des concerts. L'arrangement de Franco Cesarini pour orchestre d'harmonie de la Coronation March se distingue par son instrumentation habile qui souligne les sonorités puissantes de cette marche de concert classique. / Date parution : 2023-10-31/ Répertoire / Concert Band/Harmonie

Par TORSKANGERPOLL IDAR. This piece was commissioned by Torskangerpoll Musikklag as a massed-band item for their “Storm Festival” in 2016. The “Storm Festival” is a festival for from bands all over Norway with concerts, parades and a lot of fun in the small Western Norway town of Måløy. The music is built around two motifs used throughout the piece. This piece is a good concert-opener or a character piece. Ballad from Fantasy Pieces for Piano Op. 36. Par BACKER-GRONDAHL AGATHE. Agathe Backer Grøndahl’s ‘Ballade’ can best be described as a Romantic character piece. Such one-movement piano pieces with titles that loosely indicate a mood/idea made out a central genre in the 19th century. In Backer Grøndahl’s production, several of these are grouped under the term ‘fantasy pieces’. There are six collections with a total of 48 fantasy pieces on her opus list and ‘Ballade’ is from the first of these (Op. 36), published in 1895. ‘Ballade’ is a broader work than the other fantasy pieces. It is built around a dramatic theme that keeps returning after episodes with strongly contrasting thematic material. The arrangement is close to Backer Grøndahl’s original composition. It is transposed a semitone down: from E flat minor to D minor. The arrangement contains some challenging passages and is well-suited for amateur bands of a certain level. The instrumentation makes no special demands beyond normal concert band instrumentation and will sound just as good in small as in large bands. / Date parution : 2023-07-31/ Répertoire / Concert Band/Harmonie

Norwegian Festival Overture. Par HALVORSEN JOHAN. The Norwegian Festival Overture was written for the grand opening of the National Theatre on September 1st, 1899. In the opening bars, one can virtually imagine the stage curtain being drawn aside, and the stage is revealed to the audience. The trumpets openly quote Peer Gynts return from Grieg's music to the play Peer Gynt. The main part of the overture consists of a theme in Norwegian folk music style, which Halvorsen brilliantly develops thematically and contrapuntally. The work can probably be seen as pompous and at times seems somewhat overwrought, but then Halvorsen himself, ever so slightly self-deprecating, has written Pomposo over the grand conclusion of the work. The arrangement of the overture was written to The Royal Norwegian Navy Band for a concert in Halvorsen’s native town of Drammen in 2016. The arranger has tried to preserve as much as possible of Halvorsen's brilliant orchestration.
