Oeuvre de jeunesse, la Petite suite classique fut écrite à l'origine pour le piano. La transcription pour orgue a été ici réalisée par Germaine Chagnol, élève de Guy de Lioncourt à l'Ecole César Franck. Composée de 8 mouvements, la construction et le langage sont volontairement classiques pour l'époque. Mais déjà, particulièrement dans la Sarabande, le langage futur du compositeur se fait sentir à travers des harmonies à dominante romantique. Ces 8 pièces sont un exemple parfait de l'écriture musicale ' à la française ', architecture impeccable, écriture sobre, harmonies ciselées à l'extrême. Utilisé comme un lieu de culte depuis des siècles, d'abord par les chrétiens et par les musulmans puis (à partir de 1453), la basilique Sainte-Sophie (Istanbul) étonne encore des gens de partout dans le monde. Depuis 1934, il est un musée - mais plus que cela, l'Hagia Sophia, une oeuvre architecturale unique de proportions monumentales dans l'Antiquité chrétienne et du Moyen Age, est décrit comme un lieu mystique. Monumental, encore mystérieuse, un 'miracle de l'espace', un symbole, un signe. 'Sophia', la sainte sagesse, nous accompagne à travers toute l'histoire de la Bible.La musique actuelle doit être considérée dans ce contexte: A la réflexion, la contemplation de la musique et de la poésie. La création est puissante, mais la vérité à ce sujet est puissant aussi. Et la prise de conscience que le chemin de la vérité est atteint par la sagesse. En conséquence, cette pièce doit traverser le puissant pour la moitié de sa durée, monumental. Il s'agit de la coupole au-dessus toutes les suivantes (d'observation) versets (sections). Depuis la barre 371, le chemin ramène à la puissance, à la joie (bar 406). Il ne faut pas oublier de mentionner la suggestion de 'chanter dans une mosquée' (barre de 510) qui est répondu par une simple prière (bar 511). Ce n'est pas sans rappeler la mosaïque dessus de la porte impériale du bâtiment dépeindre Jésus-Christ assis sur un trône orné de bijoux. Il tient un livre ouvert dans lequel on peut lire: 'La paix soit avec vous. Je suis la lumière du monde '.La ligne et le son de Sainte-Sophie sont basées sur un symétrique huit notes rangée (mode B) avec la note B, C sharp, D, E / F, G, A plat (sol dièse), si bémol (A dièse). Bien que les relations majeure-mineure sont retirés, les connexions harmoniques (couleurs) apparaissent néanmoins. / Orgue

Judith Weir's The Wild Reeds for Organ.'The Wild Reeds is a ten-minute partita made up of an original theme followed by six variations which are played continuously. The theme was partlyinspired by folk music for outdoor wind instruments from eastern Europe rugged yet delicate at the same time. Another important inspiration has been the Organ sonorities which result from unusual divisions of the octave producing strange chords and ghostly harmonisations of melodies. Above all The Wild Reeds has been written for Thomas Trotter (who personally commissioned this music and gave much valuable advice during its composition) in honourof his remarkable thirty years as Birmingham City Organist.' - Judith Weir

Die Ausgabe der Görlitzer Tabulatur von Samuel Scheidt bildet nun als 36. Band den Abschluss dieser Bemühungen. Das Tabulatur-Buch, das 1650 erstmals im Druck erschien, sollte Organisten ein Repertoire an vierstimmigen Begleitsätzen zu über 100 Titeln an die Hand geben, die sie bei Gottesdiensten oder zu Hause, auf der Orgel oder anderen, häuslichen Tasteninstrumenten spielen und singen konnten. / Orgue

'Toccata Chromatica' (sous-titré 'Echoes of Sweelinck') a été composée spécialement par l'organe 1671 Pieter Backer dans le Bonifaciuskerk (Eglise Saint-Boniface) à Medemblik, Pays-Bas, à l'esprit. Third Part of the Clavier Ubung-In 1739 Bach?s Third Part of the Clavier Übung was published on 80 pages closely printed. Ever since then the collection has been regarded as a high point in the history of Organ composition as it offers an impressive cross section of Bach?s artistry.This present volume is an updated edition of Volume 4 Series IV of the New Bach Edition presented by Manfred Tessmer in 1969. A fully revised edition proved unnecessary as there were relatively few corrections affecting the musical text. However the volume now includes a detailed Preface by Christoph Wolff which discusses not only the work?s genesis but also offers an up-to-datedescription of the sources. For the new engraving of the musical text page-turns were reviewed and improved.Bach?s autograph is considered lost and so the main source is the original print of the collection from 1739. In collaboration with the Leipzig Bach Archive and its database Bach Digital this new edition includes links to two important copies of the original print which contain hand-written entries by Bach himself.Any complete scholarly-critical edition of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach must in the interest of its use by researchers and performers incorporate intervening new discoveries wherever possible.
