The melody lines constantly change timbre as they move through different instrumental combinations. Lara Poe is a Finnish-American composer who is currently based in London. Her works have been performed across a wide range of venues throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Her piece Kaamos, which she wrote for the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, was recently nominated for a Ivors Composer Award in the Large Scale Composition category. Kaamos also was selected by YLE Radio Finland to represent Finland at the International Rostrum of Composers 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia. Poe was the 2019 Tanglewood Music Patricia Plum Wilde Fellow and represented Finland at Ung Nordisk Musik 2019 in Piteå. Par HIGGINS GAVIN. Der Aufstand (German for 'riot') is not a descriptive work, nor is it solely based on the riots of 2011. It does, however, draw on the idea of opposing forces and escalating anger. The work falls into two contrasting sections that are linked by a series of repeated, 'screaming' chords. A slow build drives the first section from a single pitch to a blazing orchestral tutti. The second section is a fast and wild series of fanfares and driving rhythms that ultimately cannot be sustained. In many ways this mirrors the first. Both sections open on single tones (Bb and E) and grow to a climax of brass and hammered chords. The first performance took place on the last day of the 2012 Olympic Games. Commissioned in 1994 by the Royal Air Force, 'Scramble!' is a concert overture for symphonic wind band inspired by images of the RAF's airfields during the Battle of Britain, immortalised for ever in such films as 'Reach for the Sky'. The pastoral opening depicts the lull before the storm: the young pilots sitting in wicker chairs outside their barracks on a sunlit morning. The peace is, of course, deceptive, suddenly amid siren sounds, there is a shout of 'Scramble!', and a rush to the waiting planes. In no time at all the squadron is airborne, heading for a skirmish over the English Channel and beyond. A lyrical central section featuring a solo cornet depicts the stillness many pilots described as they flew to engage the enemy, before the battle breaks out once more. For those who returned, it would be only a short while before, once again, they would hear the familiar shout of 'Scramble!'/ Répertoire / Orchestre D'Harmonie

Cette deuxième série de Danceries continue le format établi en Danceries (Set I), à savoir l'utilisation de matériel provenant Maître à danser Playford, une collection de folk et de mélodies populaires publiés dans le XVIIe siècle, pour former la base d'une suite de danses prolongée. Dans cet ensemble, les mélodies ont été plus abstraite et seul projet un écho lointain de leurs formes d'origine, mais comme avant, chaque mouvement est autonome, colorée et directe, avec son ambiance distincte. Les mouvements extérieurs - Bawbee Jennie et Galliarda Peascod de - partagent une utilisation de la conduite de percussion par écrit avec un air militaire. Toye Tom Tinker et facilité coeur (mouvements deux et trois) sont les deux paramètres de mélodies originales. Tous les mouvements sont plus étendus que dans le premier set, avec une utilisation plus libre et l'approche de la matière- mélodies se produisent maintenant dans différentes touches et sont soutenus par une grande variété de couleurs harmoniques.
