Mais ce n?est qu?à partir de 1860 qu?il sert à définir l?art italien des XVe et XVIe siècles. La Renaissance est une période où s?est manifesté un intérêt renouvelé pour l?art classique fusionnant avec un point de vue plus moderne. Cette composition en quatre tableaux réunit quatre œuvres anonymes de la Renaissance. En exploitant les couleurs actuelles du Brass Band Franco Cesarini recrée l?atmosphère fascinante des fastes de la Renaissance. Le premier mouvement est une pavane intitulée Vive Henri IV (vers 1590). Lesecond mouvement plus rapide est basé sur la pièce Kemp?s Jig datée vers 1600. Le troisième tableau Canario (vers 1500) débute sereinement puis évolue vers un 6/8 pétillant. Le Bransle de chevaux (vers 1590) quatrième et dernier tableau offre une conclusion résolument spectaculaire.

The idea behind this work was to create an opening piece something to start a concert in an unusual way. The title is a portmanteau word derived from madrigal. The work indeed begins in Renaissance mood however gradually tries to shake of its modal start and by contrasting different instrumental families the work changes into modern clothes.Why not add a little Renaissance splendor to any concert with this unique new work?

Easter Fantasy-Fantasia di Pasqua is a fantasy in which traditional Easter melodies have been used. The work is written for brass band with a separate brass quartet which since this music is often performed in churches the composer suggests should be positioned on a gallery. This creates a double choir effect and perfectly fits the Renaissance-like style. Each of the melodies is played in various dance-like cadences that partly because of the double choir effect will result in a very lively and original performance.

From Ancient Times is a major work for brass band inspired largely by the music of the Franco-Flemish School of the Renaissance. Hints of Gregorian chant and middle age dances pay tribute to music from even earlier times. The foundation of this spectacular work rests on truly ‘ancient times’ while the tonal language is of a much more modern nature!

Cet ouvrage contient de nombreux airs de danse et des descriptions précises des danses courtoises. Parmi ces airs se trouve Il Bianco fior (la Fleur blanche) duquel est tiré le premier mouvement de cette composition. Cette danse vigoureuse en 3/4 s?accélère avant de passer soudainement à une mesure binaire vers la fin du mouvement. Le deuxième mouvement de caractère calme et contemplatif comprend l?air Vaghe bellezze? (Beauté voilée?). Des éléments mélodiques très espacés s?articulentautour de deux solos au cours desquels l?air est varié et développé. Enfin le troisième mouvement est fondé sur un saltarello au rythme hypnotique qui achève la pièce avec élégance et enthousiasme.

Once again an A-B-A structure here.San Diego : A Mexican fugitive enjoys his freedom in America but also remembers his place of birth with melancholy. A sad minor melody with a straight trendy beat appears twice. The second time it has a slightly different instrumentation in which the muted trumpets represent the Mexican feeling.Final Dance : Eventually there is a dance with an introduction in renaissance style followed by a fast dance in rock style.
