Par CURTIS MIKE. Bulgarian Bat Bite was written in 2003 as a commission by the Quartetto Italiano di Clarinetti. It is an adaption and expansion of the composer´s 1992 duet, Khyberian Catfit, which is included in his 10 Klezmer Duos, published by Advance Music of Germany. The Duo‘s name referred to the antics of the family cat, Khyber, without alluding to the Balkan influences upon the composers following a summer, 1992, klezmer tour to Eastern Europe. The name “Bulgarian Bat Bite” properly conveys the influence. Melodic charm, bel canto sensibility, impressionist harmony à la Française and jazz rhythm influences unite in this quartet for three B-flat Clarinets and Bass Clarinet. Yellow Green was premiered on July 23rd, 2013 at the Teatro Municipal de Niterói (Rio de Janeiro) by the musicians of the Omega Quartet: Maurício Silva, Deusiel da Cunha de Souza, Diego Abreu and Mateus Falkemback (bass clarinet). Approximately 9 minutes in length, the title - Yellow Green - is a tribute to the two colours of the Brazilian flag. The introduction gives way to a vast Fugue (marked Vivace) dipped in the colours of swing. The central Adagio floats a dreamy, timeless melody. The brief finale brings together the fugue's thematic material with one last recommendation for the performers: 'Feel jazz?. This invigorating work was recorded for the Chant de Linos label by its dedicatees, the Omega Quartet clarinetists. / 4 Clarinettes

Par ROZMAN ANZE. An?e Rozman's Waking of the Green Spring (Prebujanje zelene pomladi) draws together Impressionism and Minimalism as it paints an image of the titular spring erupting to life. The piece opens with the four flutes painting a mysterious running texture based in whole tones, swelling and fading in turns. The central slower section creates an almost reverent choral sound with large blocks of chords, building again into the opening textures but colored with more complex melodies and staccato runs. Toccata, Adagio e Fuga per quartetto di clarinetti. Par CALLIGARIS SERGIO. Sergio Calligaris was born in Rosario (1941), Argentina. He is one of the last musicians to incarnate the traditional 19th century figure of pianist, teacher and composer, inaugurated at the beginning of the 19th century by Muzio Clementi and carriedon after that by a sequence of famous names that the history of music has handed down to us. As a pianist, he began to give public performances at the age of 13, making his debut in his home town Rosario. Following this success, he embarked upon an extremely busy career as a soloist, giving numerous recitals in Buenos Aires and other citiesin Argentina. He continued to take advanced lessons with eminent exponents of the most prestigious international piano schools. In 1974 he became an Italian citizen and settled in Rome, teaching piano as principal instrument at the S. Pietro a Majella StateConservatory in Naples, the Luisa DAnnunzio Conservatory in Pescara and the Alfredo Casella Conservatory in Aquila. As a composer, he began - at just 9 years of age - to study in the rigorous school of Paul Hindemith, under the guidance of Father Luis Machado, from whom he inherited a love of counterpoint and a strong taste for harmony. He took a diploma incomposition, counterpoint and fugue at the age of 16 at the Amigos del Arte Society in Rosario, going on in 1964 to do an advanced course in 12-tone counterpoint at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
