Elles deviendront vite des incontournables du répertoire de duo, des élèves de fin de 2e ou début 3e cycle. À des tempi enjoués, elles seront de très jolies pièces de concert. Les thèmes chantants ou dansants sont toujours sobres ou élégants, répartis entre les 2 guitares, ils se spatialisent, se colorent selon le jeu de chacun, avec des articulations similaires cependant. Chez de Lhoyer, l'harmonie est toujours fine et intelligente. Ma préférence va à la sérénade no5 dite L'Orage, qui dépeint au pastel une atmosphère contrastée inquiétante (introduction en sol mineur), électrique (triples croches tumultueuses en homorythmie sur une pédale de mi) puis apaisée (andante grazioso). Les élèves guitaristes développeront leur vélocité, leur écoute du jeu en duo si particulier, affineront leurs phrasés... Alexandre Lagoya once said: 'For one Guitar you can write what the Guitar will allow you to write. For two Guitars you can write what you choose.' While there is a measure of overstatement in this it remains true that themedium of two Guitars allows much greater creative freedom to the composer.There are many kinds of Guitar-duo works- at one extreme the very simple at the other the call for two virtuosi; those in this book inhabit themiddle of this spectrum. They are not in effect accompanied Guitar solos but equal duets in which two players of moderate technical ability converse with one another sharing the lead. This they do without sacrificing musicalinterest.Two of the pieces consist of variations on folk tunes - Shades of Green uses the Irish tune The Next Market Day while Varieties of Scotch is based on the well known Scottish tune YeBanks and Braes. The remaining duet is an affectionate nod in the ragtime direction of Scott Joplin. The two sets of variations are suitable for concert use and Joblinesque is a natural encore piece.

La Collection Albéniz est dédié aux oeuvres de Isaac Albéniz, le pianiste virtuose, qui peut être considéré comme l'un des créateurs de l'école moderne espagnole. Konrad Ragossnig a arrangé les morceaux au piano pour deux guitares: particularités harmoniques et rythmiques ainsi que le son et la couleur de la musique espagnole se distinguent plus clairement que dans les oeuvres pour piano depuis le timbre de la guitare marque la source d'inspiration musicale dans l'oeuvre d'Albéniz. Les dix arrangements sont faciles ou moyennement difficiles et un parfait complément au répertoire pour le jeu en duo. / 2 Guitares
