Pour Saxophone Alto et Orchestre de Chambre ou Piano-Composed by Jeanine Rueff Concertino is dedicated to Marcel Mule. Initially for Alto Saxophone and Chamber Orchestra these scores are arranged for Alto Saxophone and Piano and would fit players with advanced skills and ability.Written in three distinctive parts: Allegro Molto (tempo 144) Lento (tempo 54) and Vivo (tempo 132). Well composed quite challenging but very lyrical this piece is really enjoyable and would be perfect for recitals. Jeanine Rueff composed numerous pieces for Saxophone which are often used in contests as well as many pieces for Saxhorn Clarinet Horn and Cornet.

Saxophone Alto-Piano-Contemporary Italian-French composer Armando Ghidoni brings together influences of both Italy and France in his music. Also as an expert on jazz the harmonies and rhythms of the composer's works reflect a huge diversity  Dans L'Air for Alto Saxophone and Piano being no exception. Ghidoni is significant within the contemporary French music school and his works are regularly chosen as set pieces for leading national and international competitions. Dans L'Air reflects Ghidoni's mastery of a range of instruments suitable for intermediate players. Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano by Edison Demisov was composed in1970 and covers three movements. The first part Allegro shows serialism; the second Lento focuses on new techniques; with the last one Allegro Moderato reminiscent of Jazz music. This strong>Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano dedicated to the French Saxophonist Jean-Marie Londeix was strongly influenced by Western European music and requires a certain level of ability (intermediate to advanced players) especially for the second movement. Edison Demisov (1929-1996) was a Russian Siberian-born composer specialising in alternative /non-conformist Soviet music. Strongly influenced by the West he was often criticised by his peers. He gained international recognition for the composition 'Le soleil des Incas' (1964) and wrote numerous concerti sonatas and other pieces.

Chanson triste (Saxophone-Alto & Piano)-French composer Robert Planel (1908-1994) was the son of composer and founder of the Music School of Montelimar Alphonse Planel. Planel junior was an exceptionally accomplished musician reflected in his composition  Suite Romantique for Alto Saxophone and Piano. The sixth movement of Suite Romantique Sad Song is a sublime legato piece for intermediate level saxophonists. With a typical performance lasting about three minutes Planel's Sad Song addresses a wide range chromaticism dotted rhythms dynamics tempo changes key changes and variety inperformance directions. Planel's Suite Romantique is an exciting addition to the modern repertoire of the Saxophone and cannot be missed by aspiring saxophonists.

Piano Reduction including solo part. Par DENISOV EDISON. The catalogue of Edison Denisov's works includes 16 concertos. It was a genre to which he returned time and again throughout his life, from the Concerto for Cello and Orchestra of 1972 to the Double Concerto for Flute, Clarinet and Orchestra of 1996. In Denisov's music the role of the soloist, or rather the protagonist, is extraordinarily important, not so much for its virtuosity as for its confessional character. The solo part is a monologue distinguished by poetic diction and a very personal message from the composer. The dramaturgical conception of the Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra, a reworking of the Viola Concerto of 1986, draws on traditional sonata form, thereby reaffirming the ubiquitous classicism in Denisov's thought. In this late work, we find all the typical features of his style: sinuous melodic lines layered into dense contrapuntal textures, and an interplay of orchestral colours, with pure sonorities contrasting with complex mixtures of sounds. It is a perfect dramaturgy that governs the evolution of the music to the very end. The first movement assumes the role of a sonata-allegro, with the standard formal sections of exposition, development, recapitulation and coda. The second movement is an Adagio for strings. The third takes the form of a little contrasting intermezzo that introduces both new thematic material and a new range of colours. Here tunefulness gives way to pointillism enriched with sonic effects. The only movement with a virtuosic solo part, its nervousness and inner tension set it worlds apart from the second and fourth movements that surround it. The fourth movement assumes the traditional form of a final set of variations. It is the dramaturgical and semantic heart of the concerto. The theme of the variations is Franz Schubert's Impromptu in B-flat major, op. 142, which in this case is 'born' from the celesta as the product of a dodecaphonic string cluster. This finale represents Denisov's homage to his great mentor, Schubert's music being for him a symbol of eternal and universal beauty. 'The attentive listener', Denisov stressed, 'will recognise that the Impromptu theme is already suggested very slowly in the course of the three preceding movements, not only thematically, but also psychologically. That's what makes the appearance of the Schubert theme sound so natural.' The variations relate to the variation genre less in their form than in their spiritual and conceptual metamorphoses. Contemporary French saxophonist Philippe Portejoie studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won many prizes. Composed in 2007  Petite Complainte for Alto Saxophone and Piano contributes to a significant collection of compositions by Portejoie. A typical performance of Petite Complainte lasts around three minutes and explores features including a wide range complex rhythms chromaticism ornamentation and variations in performance directions amongst other aspects. For all aspiring advanced saxophonists Portejoie's Petite Complainte is essentialto an exciting varied repertoire.

Contemporary composer Amy Quate works in a wide variety of musical styles forms and media. Composed in 1982 and dedicated to saxophonist Debra Richtmeyer Light of Sothis creatively depicts the brightest star in heaven. Sothis now called Sirius is the star aspect of the goddess Isis whose light confines the cycles of nature which bring beauty prosperity and life. It is believed that Sothis blesses us with sacred illumination and it is this which Quate depicts in Light of Sothis. In three movements Grace Passion and Faith the Saxophone line has lyrical melodies contrasted with dramatic scalic passages covering the entire range of the instrument. Suitable for intermediate level saxophonists a performance Quate's Light of Sothis proves to be an enticing prospect.

O Gloriosa Domina is divided into three distinct parts: the beginning is in chorale style with sparkling harmonies and surprising chords throughout. A contrasting, fast and very rhythmic middle section follows. The finale recalls the chorale and climaxes in an ecstatic ending.
