Couverture Rigide. Par GADE NIELS WILHELM. The four works presented in this volume – 'Frühlings-Phantasie” op. 23, 'Frühlings-Botschaft” op. 35, 'Die heilige Nacht' op. 40 and „ Beim Sonnenuntergang' op. 46 – were composed between 1852 and 1870. All of these works belong to the 'concert piece” genre, as the title pages of the respective first editions suggest.
The works' instrumentation is varied: While „ Frühlings-Botschaft ' and „ Beim Sonnenuntergang' are composed for mixed choir and orchestra, 'Die heilige Nacht” calls for an additional solo alto. 'Frühlings-Phantasie” is not scored for choir at all, juxtaposing the orchestra with four solo voices and piano. Gade based his texts on poems by Edmund Lobedanz (op. 23), Emanuel Geibel (op. 35), August von Platen (op. 40), and Andreas Munch (op. 46)./ Répertoire / Conducteur

Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden BWV 230 - Motet for four-part mixed choir.
In Bach’s voluminous output of music the motets form a small group of modest proportions, particularly as compared to the200 or so surviving cantatas. In historical perspective, however, the corpus of motets is especially distinguished, being the only part of Bach’s vocal œuvre whose post-1750 tradition has remained unbroken to the presentday.

Par HOLST GUSTAV. Holst's Symphony in F: The Cotswold Op.8 (H.47) was composed in 1899 and 1900 and given what was in all probability its only performance in 1902 by the Bournemouth Municipal Orchestra conducted by Dan Godfrey (this was the first professional performance of any of Holst's orchestral works). The manuscript of the symphony is in the British Library. The music is uneven, and only in the second movement, 'Elegy', was Holst equal to his ambition: his feelings for Williams Moris, whom he heard lecture, and in whose London house he rehearsed the Hammersmith Socialist Choir, inspired a heartfelt tribute. Morris died in 1896 - he lived at Kelmscott Manor in Oxfordshire, on the edge of the Cotswolds, from 1871 until his death./ Répertoire / Conducteur
