Il est extrêmement important qu'ils aient de la satisfaction à chaque instant de la répétition. Il ne faut pas commencer la répétition par des exercices 'punitifs' inutiles. Personne n'est vraiment motivé pour commencer la répétition avec des gammes, des sons filés ou des exercices rythmiques compliqués. Il y a souvent une absence notable dans les répétitions des orchestres d’harmonie, ça s'appelle la musique ! Dans ce recueil, le tempo n'est jamais indiqué, mais il doit souvent être exécuté assez lentement, mais pas traînant. Les nuances ne sont également pas indiquées, de cette manière, le chef d'orchestre a la possibilité d'attirer l'attention des musiciens sur ses gestes et de les faire réagir selon ses indications. Les parties de timbales et glockenspiel sont ajoutées dans le but de ne pas laisser les percussionnistes complètement inactifs pendant la phase d'échauffement, mais elles peuvent être omises.
