Gordon Jacob's Concerto for Trombone is a challenging piece but one full of reward and pleasure. It is set for the Associated Board and London College examinations and it has been arranged by the composer for Trombone with a playable Piano reduction.

French composer Alfred Désenclos (1912-1971) described his music as romantic. His music is expressive and atmospheric as heard in his Plain-Chant Et Allegretto for Trombone and Piano. Désenclos studied at the Roubaix Conservatory and he won the 1942 Prix de Rome. His Plain-Chant Et Allegretto was published in 1965 towards the end of the composer's life. A typical performance lasts around eight minutes in which the Trombone solo line is enhanced by rhythm and technique. As expected the two movements are contrasting suitable for the advanced trombonist. Arranged for Trombone and Piano by the composer. This concerto was commissioned by the Bedfordshire Education Service for Michael Hext who won Young Musician of the Year in 1978. First performed in 1979 at the Royal College of Music by Michael Hext. Duration 15 minutes. Full score and parts are available on hire.
