The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056, is the fifth of the harpsichord concertos contained in the autograph score that Bach wrote out in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek, Mus. ms. Bach P 234). Cette nouvelle édition repose sur le manuscrit autographe de 1723 de Jean-Sébastien Bach conservé à la Deutsche Staatsbibliothek de Berlin. Cette version manuscrite représentait certainement pour l'auteur l'état d'achèvement de l'oeuvre. On sait cependant qu'il existe une version primitive des inventions. Ces pièces figurent sous les titres de ' Praembula et Fantasiae ' dans le Petit Livre du Clavier (Clavierbüchlein-1720) que J.S.Bach avait destiné à l'éducation musicale de son fils Wilhelm Friedmann. En 1723, il les réunit dans un recueil qu'il nomme ' Inventions et Sinfonies ' plus communément appelé ' Inventions à deux et trois voix '. / Clavecin
