Par VLAK KEES. Studio-Pop est une pièce en cinq mouvements. 1. Marching on a String (“En marchant sur une corde”), est une marche aux inflexions de rock qui affirme un rythme dynamique et moderne. 2. Dreaming of Summer (“Rêves d’été”) est écrit dans un chiffrage de mesure assez inhabituel dans la musique pop, la mesure à 3/4. 3. Chicken Charley, est inspiré d’un souvenir de vacances sur la Côte d’Azur où le compositeur a été impressionné par un jeune Antillais vendeur de grillades de cuisses de poulet. La souplesse de ses mouvements transparaît dans la musique fortement dansante. 4. Candlelight (“À la lueur d’une bougie”) est une ballade gracieuse etmoderne, qui pourrait servir de toile de fond à un dîner charmant. Les harmonisations sont passionnantes, mais trouvent toujours leur résolution dans une atmosphère romantique. 5. Discoteca vous plonge dans la vie nocturne d’une discothèque espagnole. Par BALAZS ARPAD. With its energetic impetus and imposing instrumentation, Concertino is certainly outstanding in the oeuvre of Árpád Balázs. Among his compositions for concert band, it is by far the most engaging and exacting work. Passing away and a will to live are simultaneously present in Concertino, which Árpád Balázs composed in memory of his beloved father. Its structure brings Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies to mind: its solemn opening, which returns at the end,is followed by a slow and a fast movement. The funereal music of the slow movement evolves from a motif of Bach's St. Matthew Passion with enormous intensification equal to the lament in Grieg's Peer Gynt. It is difficult to imagine a dramatic incandescence with a higher degree of heat. The heartbeat-imitating timpani features significantly at the beginning and the end of the funereal music. The fast movement represents resolution, resignation and regainedgaiety. This part, pulsating like a waltz and echoing the modulation technique of Richard Strauss, is followed by the solemn return of the opening chords.Whether playing or listenting to this tremendously soul-stirring music, you will all encounter a dramatic experience./ Répertoire / Concert Band

In his music, Mozart, at times in a humorous way, reflects the numerous social and erotic intrigues with both empathy and insight. The brilliant overture is just as vivacious and witty as the opera itself. Mozart delightfully anticipates the passion and playful love that is to come. Flamenco for Band. Par SPARKE PHILIP. Flamenco is a style of music, usually played on the guitar to accompany dancing and singing, that has its home in Andalusia in southern Spain. It has its roots in the years of Moorish rule of the region (711-1492) although the modern flamenco style dates only from the 18th century. La Caracola (which is the Spanish name for the triton sea shell) is an annual festival of flamenco that takes place around the region’s capital, Seville, annually in May. Par SPARKE PHILIP. Mercury Rising est une commande du « sinfonisches blasorchester wehdel » et de son chef d?orchestre, Thomas Ratzek, pour célébrer le cinquantenaire de l?ensemble, en 2018. Celui-ci a créé cette pièce le 2 novembre 2018 lors de son concert d?anniversaire au Bremerhaven Stadttheater, en Allemagne. Destinée à ouvrir un concert avec brio et virtuosité, cette composition débute avec une énergie fiévreuse et des rythmes syncopés puissants dans un embrasement de couleurs. Les cors et les saxophones introduisent alors une ample mélodie, reprise par les trompettes après un changement de tonalité. Un moment plus calme introduit une fanfare lointaine par les cors par-dessus les doubles croches effervescentes des clarinettes dans le registre grave. Ce passage est interrompu par une mélodie ténor pleine de passion, mais il revient bientôt avec l?ensemble des cuivres ; accompagné par des échos des figures d?ouverture des vents, il se prolonge pour mener la pièce à une conclusion triomphale. / Date parution : 2022-01-14/ Répertoire / Concert Band/Harmonie

The Resounding Passionate Heartbeat. Par YAGISAWA SATOSHI. L’oeuvre fut donnée en création dans le cadre du Festival des Musiques Militaires des Forces armées japonaises 2010, qui s’est tenu sur l’île de Kyushu. Le thème fut « La passion est en nous ». Swaying in the West Wind révèle une profondeur d’expression poignante. Depuis des siècles, Kyushu s’est ouverte aux cultures occidentales.
