Alfred's Artist Series has expanded to include Don Mock: The Blues from Rock to Jazz. Don Mock is internationally recognized as a master educator, guitarist, author, recording artist, composer, and synthesizer stylist. As one of the three original founding instructors at the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood, Don has long been known and respected for his broad knowledge of the instrument. In this DVD, Don uses the basic blues progression as a vehicle to teach chords and soloing techniques found in contemporary blues and jazz fusion. He starts by guiding you through the dominant chord family, showing the basic chords and their substitutions for comping, plus scales, arpeggios and melodic ideas for improvising. Next, he covers how to solo over each chord in the 12-bar blues using secondary dominants and the turnaround. Finally, he breaks down three jazz-fusion 12-bar blues solos, with an in-depth analysis of each bar. Special features include a printable PDF booklet with note-for-note transcriptions, a bonus performance from Robben Ford's The Blues and Beyond, and a bonus lesson from The Definitive Steve Morse. / Guitare

24 Favourite Pieces Arranged For The Moderately Advanced Guitarist. Par COLES PAUL. 'From Folk to Classical 2” is a mouth-watering collection of 24 arrangements for classical guitar by Paul Coles. The classical pieces include many favourites, including a few you would not expect to hear on the guitar, such as 'Habanera” from 'Carmen” and Saint-Saën's famous 'Swan” but they really work! Traditional folk numbers are not neglected, with 'Michael Row the Boat” and 'Londonderry Air” among the best known. The arrangements are for moderately advanced players (UK grade 5-6) and Paul has offered fingering help for both left and right hands. It follows Book 1 (UE 21673) which was published in 2017 (Grades 3-4). Try it, perhaps as a warm up for Book 2 if you don't already know it and then try Paul's '26 Melodic Studies” (UE 21670) or his 'Momentos Españoles” (UE 21671)./ Recueil / Guitare

Par GROSSMAN STEFAN. In this book, six of Rev. Davis' Holy Blues are presented-- gospel songs with a taste of the blues. The online audio recordings teach these arrangements phrase by phrase as well as presenting the original recordings. These lessons are for the intermediate to advanced fingerstyle guitarist. All of the music is in notation and tablature. LESSON ONE: Rev. Davis played many gospel songs with a blues feel. These are referred to as 'Holy Blues.' Death Don't Have No Mercy is an excellent example of a Holy Blues in the key of Em. Let Us Get Together follows, and is played in the key of G. This is a difficult arrangement illustrating Rev. Davis's control over his right hand. LESSON TWO: Rev.Gary Davis's religious arrangements in the key of C: I Belong to the Band and Tryin' to Get Home. LESSON THREE: For ragtime playing Rev. Davis would approach his guitar as if it were a piano. For gospel songs the guitar takes on the role of a full Baptist church! In this lesson we study two gospel arrangements, Pure Religion and I Am the Light of the World. Both are played in the key of C and have become popular in today's pop world. Includes access to online audio. / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Tablatures / Guitare
