Russian composer, Alexander Glazounov (1865-1936) was director of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory for a large part of his career. As a prolific composer, his works were always well-received, Concerto in E-flat for Alto Saxophone and String Orchestra being no exception. Glazounov's compositional style was particularly significant due to his successful reconciliation of nationalism and cosmopolitanism in Russian music. Composed in 1934, a typical performance of Concerto in E-flat for Alto Saxophone and String Orchestra last about fourteen minutes and is played without a pause. The work is highly romantic and remains part of the standard Saxophone repertoire. For all advanced saxophonists, Glazounov's Concerto in E-flat ensures a riveting and exciting performance for players and audiences alike.

Joseph Haydn's so-called Paris Symphonies were composed in 1785 and 1786 for the masonic lodge “Société Olympique†in Paris, which ran a large orchestra and organised regular concerts. These six works are notable for their artful motivic work and playful wit. Haydn here pays tribute both to the discerning taste of the Paris audience and to the excellent abilities of the musicians in the orchestra. These symphonies rapidly became famous and popular throughout Europe, thanks to editions published variously in Paris, Vienna and London. This E-flat major Symphony, composed in 1786, is notable for its colourful use of the woodwind, which are also allowed to come to the fore in solo passages. This study edition reproduces the musical text of the Haydn Complete Edition, which isa guarantor of the finest scholarship. An informative preface and a brief critical report make this handy score an ideal companion for all Haydn fans, both present and future.

Written by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) in 1869, the Piano Concerto No. 3 in E-flat Major, Op. 29 follows the standard concerto form while experimenting with harmony. Premiered on November 27th, 1869, by Saint-Saëns himself at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the work was not particularly well received at the time. Today, while not as popular as Saint-Saëns' second, fourth, or fifth concertos, the third, with its balance between delicate lyricism and virtuosity, remains an important addition to the piano concerto repertoire. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.3.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): Solo Piano.

Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) wrote his Violin Concerto in E minor over a six-year period from 1838 to 1844 for his childhood friend, the violinist Ferdinand David, who contributed the cadenza in the version of the concerto most performed today. The concerto premiered on March 13, 1845 in Leipzig, but Mendelssohn himself was unable to conduct due to illness. Unlike most concerti of the time, Mendelssohn has the violin enter immediately without any orchestral introduction, and its cadenza is unusually placed after the development of the first movement instead of at the end of the movement. The concerto remains one of the most ubiquitous pieces in the violin repertoire. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): Solo Vn in set.

Interestingly, Schumann?s Third Symphony was in fact his last symphony, as the fourth symphony was actually composed after the first. The Symphony No.3 in E flat Op.97 was written 1850 during the composer?s tenure as conductor at Dusseldorf on the famous river Rhine. Schumann claimed that the history and spirit surrounding the noble river inspired him when writing the symphony, hence it being called the ?Rhenish? symphony. The symphony was less successful at its premiere in February 1851 (conducted by Schumann himself) than his previous two symphonic premiers had been. This symphony is in five movements, with the ?extra? fourth movement, originally subtitled ?In the style of an accompaniment to a solemn ceremony?, was inspired by a visit to Cologne Cathedral.Available here is a study score of Schumann?s Symphony No.3 in E flat ?Rhenish? Op.97 , which is ideal for study and perusal usage..

As part of the year 2023, dedicated to Swiss composers, the Swiss Wind Band Association has commissioned Gauthier Dupertuis to write a new orchestration of the Overture in E-flat major by Stephan Jaeggi. Indeed, an update of the instrumentation was necessary for the interpretation of this work with modern orchestras. Therefore, the orchestration that Gauthier Dupertuis proposes and which he wanted to be faithful to the original while meeting current standards, will allow todayÂ’s orchestras to perform this piece of classical-romantic inspiration. Stephan Jaeggi was a Swiss composer and conductor who was born into a large family in Fulenbach (Canton of Solothurn) in 1903. He began playing the clarinet at the age of 13, then studied music at the Basel Conservatory and attended his military training with the Swiss Army Band. Thereafter, he became the conductor of several wind orchestras. In this role, and also that of a composer, Stephan Jaeggi went on to achieve great success. His early death in 1957 put a premature end to Stephan Jaeggi's creative life. All the more reason why his work lives on with unbroken power to this day.
