Combining elements of the blues rondo form and a driving 7/8 meter this energetic work from Robert Longfield makes use of classical and jazz figures. The 7/8 meter is very intuitive and provides a rhythmic pulse throughout the piece. A swing section toward the end is an excellent teaching tool and will surely delight both your students and audience.

All players are given a sample solo along with a solo sheet on the back of their parts teaching them the basics of improvisation. In this case the entire basis of the solo is a G Major scale making for a positive experience for virtually any performer. Outstanding writing by a jazz violinist!
