Je ne commente pas Baudelaire mais, plus ou moins souterrainement, le poème a aussi servi d'engrais à la composition. Et puis, et puis encore ? parcourt cinq étapes : Choeur à choeur, Double I, Tiento, Double II, Molto lento. Chacune d'elles se termine par une respiration calibrée et une double barre qui disent clairement sa place de maillon dans la continuité de l'ensemble. L'interprète joue toutes les étapes, ou quelques-unes seulement groupées alors selon l'agencement choisi dans la liste exhaustive que voici : - I-III, I-V, I-III-V, I-II-V, I-IV-V, - II-III, II-V, II-III-V, II-IV-V, II-III-IV-V, - III-V, III-IV-V, - IV-V. Lorsque dans l'un de ces groupements - qui par leur direction conservent tous quelque chose de l'avancée de l'oeuvre - deux étapes se suivent comme elles le font dans le déroulement complet de la partition, il convient, à la fin de la première des deux étapes, de respecter l'ordre de grandeur de la respiration. S'il y a discontinuité par rapport à l'original, la nature de l'enchaînement est plus librement à la discrétion de l'interprète. Choeur à choeur, Tiento et Molto lento peuvent, quant à eux, être joués individuellement. Et puis, et puis encore ? est écrit de manière à pouvoir être joué sur un orgue d'un ou deux claviers ne dépassant pas l'Ut 5, avec ou sans octave courte, et sans aucun usage du pédalier. Choeur à choeur : sur deux claviers, ou sur un seul avec changement de registration - Double I et Double II : sur un seul clavier, ou sur deux accouplés - Tiento : sur un seul clavier avec jeux coupés, ou sur deux. La main gauche de Tiento ne monte jamais au-dessus du Si 2, pour permettre la participation des cornets descendant jusqu'au do. La liaison entre un accord et un silence attire l'attention sur l'exactitude de la durée de l'accord. Les trilles et batteries, ainsi que les groupes de doubles et triples croches se jouent sans appui initial ni ralenti terminal. Une altération est valable pour la mesure entière. The music text is based on a reevaluation of 17 th - and 18 th -century manuscripts containing the free organ and keyboard works by Buxtehude. They originated during a transitional phase between the traditional letter tablature and the staff notation still in use today. Since many works have survived only in transcriptions for staff notation, the editor was confronted with a high error rate, which he carefully analyzes in the ?Einzelanmerkungen?. During the preparation of the edition, the editor always kept sight of the performance practice, but still, the image of the sources is never distorted (e. g. by superfluous rests, beaming not conforming to the sources and the unhistorical adjustment of time signatures) and stays very close to the compositional notation, the letter tablature. The flexible use of three staves and the differentiated distribution of the voices on the staves allow for an approximation in reading conventions of historical notation with its resulting information about hand division. Grouping the free organ repertoire into works with obbligato pedal and works for manuals, this edition is organized in two volumes. The first subvolume (I/1, EB 9304) contains the Preface and the Preludes, whereas the second subvolume (I/2, EB 9305) contains Toccatas, Ostinato works, alternative versions and a comprehensive Critical Commentary (in German only). Volume II (EB 9306) contains Buxtehude?s free organ and keyboard works (manualiter) with the corresponding texts (Preface and Critical Commentary). Until 1971, Harald Vogel worked on a dissertation (with Georg von Dadelsen, Hamburg) on ?Die Fuge um Bach?. Besides the description of the ?inclusion? of triple measures into the C notation and the irregularities of the ?voice mutation? in the polyphonic structures, this also included a discussion about the justification of the ?inner textual criticism?. With the inner textual criticism, deviations in parallel passages are unified. The North German fugue style, reaching a peak in Buxtehude?s work, is characterized by a constant diversity of details in subject and polyphonic progressions. Johann Sebastian Bach made decisive contributions to the development of this genre tradition. The importance of this work group in his own organ oeuvre is confirmed by the many transmitted sources: hardly any autographs, but all the more copies. The genesis of the works and the question of versions associated with it are described at length in the introduction. In his new edition, editor David Schulenberg occasionally makes a new evaluation of the transmitted sources. To do so, he based himself as faithfully as possible on the manuscripts that can be traced back to Bach or to his circle. Here the American Bach expert generally chooses one source as his principal one. Divergences from other sources are documented in the Commentary. On the whole, the new Urtext edition sometimes also emends some long-cherished readings of ornaments, voice leading and notation. Also printed in Volume 1 is, for example, the early version of the C major Prelude BWV 545 as well as the inserted Trio movement of the three-movement version of this work. As with the previously published volumes, the CD-ROM enclosed in Volumes 1 and 2 contains dubious works and secondary versions for comparison with the principal versions. Forord: Denne lille samling af forspil og koralbearbejdelser er et udpluk afsatser opstået gennem godt 30 års virke som organist i folkekirken. Samlingen er først og fremmest tænkt som et brugbart arbejdsredskab til alle mine kolleger rundt om på de danske orgelbænke. Der er satser der egner sig til det lille ét-manuals orgel i landsbykirken og andre der er tænkt til koncertorglet i den store bykirke. Nogle satser er lette at gå til og med en enkelt og traditionelt opbyggetstruktur mens andre både harmonisk og rytmisk byder på større kompleksitet og sværhedsgrad. Stort set alle de satser der er komponeret for to manualer og pedal kan også lade sig realisere på orgler der kun har ét manual og pedal. The present volume is an updated edition of Series IV, Volume 6 of the ?New Bach Edition? (NBA), prepared by Dietrich Kilian in 1964.
