Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. After attending the premiere of Beethoven?s stately concerto for violin and orchestra Muzio Clementi approached the composer and requested the work in a transcription for piano and orchestra; his wish was fulfilled in 1807 providing us with not just an alternative version of the composition but also one with authentic cadenzas which Beethoven had not written for the Violin Concerto! This version has waited a long time to be properly edited after the existing sources and the famed Beethoven scholar Jonathan Del Mar has done just that!
Working with all known sources, Del Mar finally presents us with Beethoven?s solo piano articulation and dynamics and Beethoven?s cadenzas. And, for the first time we now have clarity regarding the meaning of Beethoven?s Solo and Tutti markings.
All in all, a groundbreaking scholarly critical edition; a ?must? for every pianist, every orchestra and every music library.
The piano reduction will be presented in a new format:
As customary in the 19 th century there will be a solo piano part containing tutti passages, cues and the piano solo. This part will be inserted ? as with string and wind concertos ? in the piano reduction. This affords the soloist sensible page turns and offers the possibility to lead the ensemble from the piano. The piano reduction will include the reduction of the orchestral score as well as the solo piano part above it in small print. / Date parution : 2022-02-25/ Répertoire / Piano

Beethoven, Ludwig van Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra no. 5 E-flat major op. 73 Beethoven?s fifth and final piano concerto is at the same time the culmination of his efforts in this genre and a reflection of all his artistic skill and expertise. The surviving manuscripts provide a clear insight into his working methods and his intentions regarding the work?s performance. The editor, Jonathan Del Mar, has closely scrutinised the autograph solo piano part and reproduced Beethoven?s sophisticated performance instructions for the first time in a modern edition. Among other things, this has special repercussions for the left-hand figured bass line of the piano part during the tutti passages. As with the Piano Concertos Nos. 1 to 4, the piano reduction appears with a separate solo part containing all the information needed by the soloist to conduct the ensemble from the piano. ? G Major Op. 78 D 894-Schubert?s tuneful and buoyant Sonata in G major was published in April 1827 as a ?Fantasy or Sonata? to quote the heading of its first movement. His first reviewer noted that ?the beloved and talented Lieder composer has presented the music world with a fantasy in which he lets his inventiveness loose. He presents the pianist with a harmonic indulgence without however amassing too many difficulties to complicate the execution?.Our scholarly-critical Urtext edition based on the definitive New Schubert Edition presents the sonata in a spacious new engraving with practical page turns. The work is introduced by an updated Foreword (Ger/Eng) and detailednotes on key questions of performance practice e.g. pedalling and Schubert?s characteristic way of writing accents. Par FAURE GABRIEL. Fauré?s ?Pavane? was composed for orchestra in 1887, followed by a version for chorus and orchestra in that same year. Three decades later Serge Diaghilev had it choreographed for his Ballets russes ? a sign of its great popularity. ?Pavane? exudes the spirit of Paris?s fêtes galantes at the turn of the century. A version for solo piano appeared in 1889; it was most likely prepared by Fauré himself, who performed it several times and even recorded it for player piano. Our Urtext edition is based on the musical text from ?Gabriel Fauré ?uvres complètes?. The editor has drawn in particular on the original solo piano print while also consulting the autograph of the orchestral version and Fauré?s second recording of the piano version. Elegant engraving and practical page-turns invite players to study this popular piece. - Urtext edition based on the ?Gabriel Fauré ?uvres complètes? - Musical text at the cutting edge of scholarship incorporating all the sources, including Fauré?s recordings - Informative introduction, notes on performance (Fr/Eng/Ger) and Critical Commentary (Eng) / Date parution : 2022-07-30/ Répertoire / Piano

Brahms? popular 16 ?Waltzes? opus 39 composed in 1866 for four hands were transcribed by Brahms one year later for two hands. At the request of his publisher Brahms also wrote an easier version of the work for solo piano. Brahms himself described the first version as suitable for 'reasonable hands' that is for proficient players and the easier version as 'perhaps for prettier hands' that is for domestic music-making. He initially described the latter version to his publisher as a 'children?s edition'. The catchy and musically easily accessible pieces are among the composer?s most popular works and are particularly suitable for piano students and lovers of the Romanticrepertoire. Both versions of the ?Waltzes? op. 39 (BA 9602 BA 9603) are available in separate editions and form an important contribution to Bärenreiter?s series of Brahms?s works in scholarly-critical Urtext editions.
