The Easy Concert Pieces series for alto saxophone and piano provide easy to intermediate pieces from the Renaissance to the modern era for music lessons, concert performances or private music-making. The volumes with accompanying CD add to the not very extensive repertoire of performance pieces for saxophone. They were carefully selected according to technical and musical requirements and are arranged in three volumes according to their level of difficulty. All pieces are included on the accompanying CD as demo and play-along versions (piano accompaniment). The piano part contained in the volume is very easy so that it can even be played by a pupil, e.g. at a music school concert. Volume 1 (ED 22553) contains easy pieces which mainly range from d' to c''', occasionally even to d'''. The keys range from C to D major or the respective minor keys. This volume contains works by Charpentier, Vivaldi, Handel, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Smetana, Pütz, Moser, and others. Volume 2 (ED 22554) contains intermediate pieces ranging from c' to e''', with unusual metres and demisemiquavers appearing occasionally. Born in Toulouse Marcel Bitsch (1921-2011) went on to study at the Paris Conservatoire before becoming a professor of counterpoint at the institution. As an exceptionally versatile composer Bitsch has composed orchestral works chamber works and numerous pieces and studies for wind instruments. Villageoise is a sublime addition to the Alto Saxophone repertoire. Suited to intermediate level saxophonists Bitsch's Villageoise published in 1953 contains a range of exciting musical aspects including varied articulation modulation changes in time signature and much variation indynamics tempo and performance directions. The diversity of musical elements included in this Marcel Bitsch work for Alto Saxophone and Piano is outstanding creating a necessary addition to the intermediate saxophonist's repertoire.

Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano by Edison Demisov was composed in1970 and covers three movements. The first part Allegro shows serialism; the second Lento focuses on new techniques; with the last one Allegro Moderato reminiscent of Jazz music. This strong>Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano dedicated to the French Saxophonist Jean-Marie Londeix was strongly influenced by Western European music and requires a certain level of ability (intermediate to advanced players) especially for the second movement. Edison Demisov (1929-1996) was a Russian Siberian-born composer specialising in alternative /non-conformist Soviet music. Strongly influenced by the West he was often criticised by his peers. He gained international recognition for the composition 'Le soleil des Incas' (1964) and wrote numerous concerti sonatas and other pieces.

Chanson triste (Saxophone-Alto & Piano)-French composer Robert Planel (1908-1994) was the son of composer and founder of the Music School of Montelimar Alphonse Planel. Planel junior was an exceptionally accomplished musician reflected in his composition  Suite Romantique for Alto Saxophone and Piano. The sixth movement of Suite Romantique Sad Song is a sublime legato piece for intermediate level saxophonists. With a typical performance lasting about three minutes Planel's Sad Song addresses a wide range chromaticism dotted rhythms dynamics tempo changes key changes and variety inperformance directions. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1964 Bozza's Parade Des PetitsSoldats for Alto Saxophone and Piano is a delightful work for beginner to intermediate saxophonists addressing a variety of features. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.'

Ballade Et Divertissement by Armando Ghidoni is a piece for Alto Saxophone and Piano. It can also be played by Tenor or Soprano Saxophone. Written for intermediate players “Élementaire 2” this nice piece last 5’30 minutes and is dedicated to Guy Reverdi. Starting with an Adagio section (tempo = 60) the piece features a solo cadenza for the Saxophone which is followed by a Moderato part. Really melodious this piece can be used for a contest or in recitals. Armando Ghidoni is a French composer with Italian origins who plays Saxophone and Flute. French composer Michel Mériot (1928-2003) studied at the Conservatory of Poitiers before joining the band of the French Marines. He then studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won prizes for Saxophone proving himself as a highly competent player of the instrument. His compositions including Sicilienne Et Dance for Alto Saxophone and Piano have provded that he is also a highly capable composer. With a typical performance lasting around 3 minutes and 10 seconds Mériot's Sicilienne Et Dance is suitable for intermediate standard saxophonists. The Sicilienne containstypical characteristics of the musical style including a 6/8 meter dotted rhythms and moderate tempo. Contrastingly the Dance is highly rhythmic with many semiquaver flourishes in a 2/4 meter. Contemporary composer Amy Quate works in a wide variety of musical styles forms and media. Composed in 1982 and dedicated to saxophonist Debra Richtmeyer Light of Sothis creatively depicts the brightest star in heaven. Sothis now called Sirius is the star aspect of the goddess Isis whose light confines the cycles of nature which bring beauty prosperity and life. It is believed that Sothis blesses us with sacred illumination and it is this which Quate depicts in Light of Sothis. In three movements Grace Passion and Faith the Saxophone line has lyrical melodies contrasted with dramatic scalic passages covering the entire range of the instrument.
