SATB vocal soli, SATB choir and orchestra SKU: CA.9700700 Christmas Or...(+)
SATB vocal soli, SATB choir and orchestra SKU: CA.9700700 Christmas Oratorio in Two Parts. Composed by Joseph Leopold Eybler. Edited by Karl Michael Waltl. Arranged by Paul Horn. Sacred vocal music, Oratorios, Christmas. Full score. 248 pages. Duration 80 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 97.007/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.9700700). ISBN 9790007164713. Text language: German. Joseph Leopold Eybler had frequent contacts with the great composers of his day: both Joseph Haydn and Albrechtsberger were his teachers and friends, and he had a close friendship with Mozart and Johann Michael Haydn. His major Christmas oratorio Die Hirten bei der Krippe zu Bethlehem (1794) was composed four years before Haydn's Die Schopfung (The Creation). The almost operatic work displays a wealth of different facets: from the virtuoso aria, through the tranquil depiction of nature in music, to the portrayal of the most heartfelt emotions. As a true jewel of Viennese classicism, Die Hirten (The Shepherds) is a worthwhile addition to the Christmas repertoire. $146.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

Complete edition, Score. K. 35. Duration 1 hour, 24 minutes. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA04513_01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA04513-01). ISBN 9790006449453. 33 x 25.8 cm inches. Text: Ignaz A Weiser. This work, possibly commissioned by Prince-Bishop Sigismund Christoph von Schrattenbach , was assigned to three Salzburg composers: W. A. Mozart (part 1), Michael Haydn (part 2), and Anton Cajetan Adlgasser (part 3). Only the manuscript of part 1 has survived. Here Mozart drew heavily on the Salzburg tradition of church music and school dramas, perhaps taking Johann Ernst Eberlin and even his father Leopold as his models. The first performance took place in the Knights' Hall of the prince's palace on 12 March 1767. The libretto was supplied by Ignaz Anton Weiser (1701-1785), town councillor and mayor of Salzburg . Mozart wrote out many of the appoggiaturas in this early work, thereby providing a useful guide to the vocal practices of his day. Aria no. 2 has come down to us with an instructive passage in which the vocal part is ornamented in the hand of Leopold Mozart. The piano reduction, by K.-H. Muller , was prepared on the basis of the New Mozart Edition. The piano part is uncluttered and easy-to-play.

Just like Joseph Haydn's E flat major concerto Hob VIIe:1 (1796), Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in E major of 1803 was also written for the Viennese soloist Anton Weidinger, who performed on a keyed trumpet that could produce the chromatic tones of an entire scale a unique achievement at that time. The work features unmistakable allusions to Mozart and even has a literal quote from a Cherubini opera in the final movement. Today, Hummel's concerto, next to the Haydn piece, is considered as THE classical trumpet concerto. It is no doubt thanks to this unique status that the work has been available in a transposition to E flat major since 1957, a version that better suits the B flat trumpet widely used today. The Urtext edition respects this performance-practical aspect: The piano reduction as well as the study score contain both versions. The score and orchestral parts can be obtained in two different editions. While this being one of the few urtext, it may be the only edition published in both the original tonality of E major and the often-preferred key of E-flat major. Additionally, the edition contains some interesting insights on the concerto and keyed trumpet. (Luis C. Arranged by Gustave Sandre. Folder. Orchester-Bibliothek (Orchestral Library). The piano versions of the Children's Symphony have been part of Breitkopf's orchestral materials for over a hundred years now. They are not merely piano parts, however, but full-blooded reductions for piano twohands or four-hands. Symphony; Early classical. Set of parts. 14 pages. Duration 11'. Breitkopf and Haertel #OB 4905-30. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.OB-4905-30). ISBN 9790004324479. 9 x 12 inches. The work, originally titled Berchtolsgader-Musik, goes back to the Cassatio ex G by Leopold Mozart, whose movements 3, 4 and 7 are identical to the Kinder-Symphonie [Children's Symphony]. For a long time, the authorship of the work was uncertain. It was attributed to Joseph Haydn and his brother Michael, at times also to Edmund Angerer and Leopold Mozart's pupil Johann Rainprechter. The work probably first received the designation Kinder-Symphonie in 1813 through an edition by the music publisher Hofmeister. In the Children's Symphony, a cuckoo, a quail and other unusual instruments are used in addition to the usual orchestral scoring. These belong to the Berchtesgaden instruments: flutes, whistles and rattles carved from wood, manufactured in the Berchtesgaden region and widely used as children's toys throughout the country. Today, these instruments can also be replaced by flutes, whistles as well as ratchets, rattles or bell trees.
