Having won many prizes at the Paris Conservatoire during the 1920s-1930s Eugène Bozza went on to conduct the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and to become Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. As a major figure on the classical music frontline Bozza's compositions were well-received by audiences Récit Sicilienne and Rondo for Bassoon and Piano being no exception. This Bozza piece for Bassoon is expressive and virtuosic displaying the entire range of the instrument accompanied by rhythmic quavers and spread chords in the Piano. Born in Toulouse Marcel Bitsch (1921-2011) went on to study at the Paris Conservatoire before becoming a professor of counterpoint at the institution. As an exceptionally versatile composer Bitsch has composed orchestral works chamber works and numerous pieces and studies for wind instruments. Arvo Pärts Spiegel im Spiegel illustrates his creative principles: above a permanent flow of chords on the piano, the cello unfolds acantilena in long note values, which grows out of succinct steps. This cantilena spins out sweeping, chorale-like arches and spreads itself out more and more. Part of the collection 'Nine pieces' for Bassoon and Piano regrouped and transcribed by Fernand Oubradous  Pièce is a work initially composed by Gabriel Fauré. Quite difficult it would match the skills and abilities of advanced players. This sensitive piece for Bassoon in E flat is quite melodious: the main theme introduced by the Piano is repeated by the Bassoon who will lead the music from that moment. Written 'Adagio molto tranquillo' it is quite slow and nice to listen to. It would be perfect to execute in a recital. Gabriel Fauré was a French Composer Organist Pianist and teacher. He is one of the most important composers of his generation with pieces such as 'Pavane' or 'Requiem'.

Unusually for him Davies starts his Bassoon Concerto not with slow music but with speed and brilliance: the opening is a Presto initiated by the strings and only at the entry of the soloist does the tempo relax to thatof a real introduction. Out of this grow a big dancing Allegro. The slow movement begins and ends with a simple song around fantastical ornamentation from the soloist. The finale is again a recitative and dance with a slow coda.The whole work is an immense show of stamina poetry and athleticism for the bassoon set against an orchestra coloured by low wind (alto flute clarinet in A bass clarinet contrabassoon horns).Bassoon part with pianoreduction of the orchestral score.

'Les cygnes sauvages' a été commandée par le Ballet australien chorégraphié par Meryl Tankard et créée en l'Opéra de Sydney en mai 2003. Dans cette pièce, plutôt minimaliste, le personnage principal, la princesse Elisa, regarde à travers un trou dans une feuille verte et est d'imaginer des mondes éloignés.La version originale a été écrite pour soprano et orchestre.Piece mélancolique (Janvier 2004) Cette pièce n'est pas tout à fait 'vouloir' de décider s'il s'agit d'un tango ou la valse, il se déplace entre les deux. Il a une certaine sensation mélancolique de la musique Café à l'ancienne Russie.Revolving Doors (Janvier 2004) Ecrit à l'origine pour piano solo, l'idée m'est venue à New York en 2000, où j'ai rencontré plus de portes tournantes que partout ailleurs dans le monde. Il s'agit d'une pièce très courte et modeste. Elle a été organisée pour basson et piano pour Lorelei Dowling.Slicked Retour Tango (Juin 2002) Cette pièce a été écrite à l'origine pour un documentaire sur Barrie Kosky en 1996 et a été marqué pour clarinette et quatuor à cordes (cette version est encore appelée 'Kosky Tango'). Je me sentais toujours très chaleureusement sur ??ce petit morceau et écrivit une version duo peu de celui-ci, désormais intitulé 'lissés en arrière Tango'. Ce Tango a un peu nostalgique Europe de l'Est se sentent à elle, je pense.La version pour basson et piano a été édité par Wendy Cooper. / Basson Et Piano
