Arr.Collatti Diego. Par GARDEL CARLOS. The name of Carlos Gardel is synonymous with the Tango - his compositions in the genre have long been considered classics. Diego Collatti has collaborated with Universal Edition for several years now, producing arrangements for instrumental solo and duet of many of Gardel's best loved works. In this publication, he returns to the original versions and presents six of them almost as Gardel intended, as songs for tenor voice and piano. Two of the pieces, 'El día que me quieras” and 'Mi Buenos Aires querido” featured in films of those names in 1934 and 1935. The words to these tangos are by Alfredo Le Pera who worked with Gardel on those films and sadly died in the same plane crash that killed Carlos Gardel in 1935. Le Pera is credited with elevating the literary quality of tango lyrics while respecting the musical form. The texts are presented in the original Spanish./ Recueil / Tenor et Piano

Peter Warlock's The Curlew is a setting of the text by W.B. Yeats written for Voice Flute Cor Anglais and String Quartet. This study score features a two-stave reduction of the instrumental material. The setting was initially composed as a song-cyle for which the composer recieved a Carnegie Trust Award.

In 1918-19 Gian Francesco Malipiero wrote a collection of seven songs commonly known as Sette Canzoni. They were initially intended as a stand-alone work but became incredibly popular when they wereincluded as the second act of the composer’s opera L’Orfiede. However in recent years the collection has come to be recognised in its own right as one of the composer’s masterpieces.Like all of the seven songs the fifth Serenata is designed as an individual mini-opera. Scored for a solo Tenor with Piano accompaniment it tells the story of a young lover serenading his beloved. At the same time unknown to him shesits inside lamenting the death of a relative.Serenata has been translated from the original Italian into French by Henry Prunières and into English by Edwin Evans.
