The melody lines constantly change timbre as they move through different instrumental combinations. Lara Poe is a Finnish-American composer who is currently based in London. Her works have been performed across a wide range of venues throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Her piece Kaamos, which she wrote for the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, was recently nominated for a Ivors Composer Award in the Large Scale Composition category. Kaamos also was selected by YLE Radio Finland to represent Finland at the International Rostrum of Composers 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia. Poe was the 2019 Tanglewood Music Patricia Plum Wilde Fellow and represented Finland at Ung Nordisk Musik 2019 in Piteå. Danceries' Set II a été commandé par Keith Allen et Birmingham Symphonic Winds, soutenu par PRS for Music Foundation et La Fiducie RVW, avec l'aide des membres suivants du régime' Full Score. La première mondiale de ce travail a été donné par Birmingham Symphonic Winds, menées par Keith Allen, au CBSO Centre, Birmingham le samedi 9 Avril 2011. Cette deuxième série de Danceries continue le format, établi dans les Danceries populaires (Set I), de l'utilisation des airs et des danses de Maître à danser Playford (17e siècle) pour former la base d'une suite de danses prolongée. Dans cet ensemble, les mélodies ont été plus abstrait et seul projet un écho lointain de leurs formes originales, mais comme avant, chaque mouvement est autonome, coloré et direct, avec son ambiance distincte. Les mouvements extérieurs - Bawbee Jennie et Galliarda Peascod de - partager un emploi de conduite de percussion écrit avec un air militaire. Toye Tom Tinker et facilité Heart (mouvements deux et trois) sont les deux paramètres de mélodies originales. Tous les mouvements sont plus étendues que dans le premier set, avec une utilisation plus libre et l'approche du matériau- mélodies se produisent maintenant dans différentes touches et sont soutenus par une plus grande variété de coloration harmonique. Using the melody as a framework, this tonal piece spotlights the wonderful agility of the solo cello throughout its extraordinary range. Compositional devices used include question and answer, fugal type dialogue and an ostinato by both the cello and solo instrument. Commissioned in 1994 by the Royal Air Force, 'Scramble!' is a concert overture for symphonic wind band inspired by images of the RAF's airfields during the Battle of Britain, immortalised for ever in such films as 'Reach for the Sky'. The pastoral opening depicts the lull before the storm: the young pilots sitting in wicker chairs outside their barracks on a sunlit morning. The peace is, of course, deceptive, suddenly amid siren sounds, there is a shout of 'Scramble!', and a rush to the waiting planes. In no time at all the squadron is airborne, heading for a skirmish over the English Channel and beyond. A lyrical central section featuring a solo cornet depicts the stillness many pilots described as they flew to engage the enemy, before the battle breaks out once more. For those who returned, it would be only a short while before, once again, they would hear the familiar shout of 'Scramble!'/ Répertoire / Orchestre D'Harmonie

Malcolm Arnold's 'Clarinet Concerto #2, Op. 115', was dedicated to Benny Goodman, and first performed by him as part of the 'Red Rocks Music Festival' with the Denver Symphony Orchestra conducted by Brian Priestman on 17 August 1974. The third movement, known affectionately as 'The Pre-Goodman Rag', is an outrageous ragtime parody with a hauntingly wistful middle section. Par JANACEK LEOS. Leos Janacek, almost seventy years old, characterised the wind sextet he had just finished as 'a kind of memory of youth' in a letter to Kamila Stösslová. The suite Youth was written in the summer of 1924, prompted by the composer's need to take stock on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Janacek also heard the Parisian ensemble Societe moderne des instruments a vent several times in Salzburg and Brno. He expanded the classic quintet scoring by the addition of a bass clarinet. Janacek referred to an earlier part of his life in this work not only by quoting a theme from March of the Blue Boys, but particularly through his general freshness ofexpression, astute humour and use of form which adhered to the classical style. The piece was enthusiastically received by both critics and the public and appeared in print as early as 1925 issued by the Prague publisher Hudebni matice. The profound impression it makes on us is due in part to the sequence of variations on a death motif that seems to have been borrowed from the beginning of the second Kyrie from Bach's Mass in B minor. Written in 1890, it was commissioned by the publisher Novello for the Birmingham Music Festival and premiered there under the direction of the composer on 9 October 1891. For this performance, Dvorák used a copy of the score which he had personally examined and which later served as the engraver's copy. The Dvorák scholar Klaus Döge succeeded in tracking down its location and evaluating this important source for the first time. It contains the 'Fassung letzter Hand' and, moreover, offers valuable insights into Dvorák's conducting workshop. Robert W. Smith has chosen three castles and several colorful characters known for legendary deeds from Irish history and folklore to put to music. The use of tinwhistle, the Irish drum bodran and hints of traditional Irish melodies add ethnic authenticity and fascination to the performance of this work. Ce rituel est un moment très précieux où l'élève se concentre, 'ouvre ses oreilles' et expérimente son instrument par de nouvelles approches. Ces jeux sont très appréciés des élèves et sont parus en 2019 sous la forme d'une méthode de violoncelle. Dans cette deuxième édition, je m'adresse à tous les professeurs de flûte traversière qui cherchent des outils pour aider leurs élèves à progresser et qui souhaitent diversifier leur cours en expérimentant de nouvelles méthodes.
