Ainsi, il est relativement aisé de distinguer une marche américaine d’une marche militaire française ou une marche allemande d’une marche espagnole. À l’intérieur du cadre structurel rigide d’une marche, on réussit à percevoir même les plus subtiles différences de rythme, d’harmonie et de tempo qui caractérisent les traditions de chaque pays. Il existe un, ou plus exactement deux styles de marche typiquement anglais : celui des marches militaires représenté par des compositeurs tels que Kenneth J. Alford, et celui des marches cérémonielles ou de concert quiatteindra l’excellence avec les marches orchestrales d’Elgar et Walton, entre autres. Royal Salute (“Salut royal”) est une marche de difficulté moyenne qui perpétue cette grande tradition. Fanfare For Billy. Par SPARKE PHILIP. Salute to a Hero was composed to honour the work of a truly deserving musician, teacher, and conductor. It opens with a noble brass fanfare with woodwind ornamentation. Following a short interlude the opening fanfare is again heard this time being played by the full band. A lyrical middle section follows, providing a beautiful and peaceful contrast to the powerful sound of the brass section. Dutch composer, artist and poet Adriaen Valerius is mostly remembered today for his collection of 79 songs for voice and lute or cittern, published posthumously in 1626. Philip Sparke has taken one melody from this collection that tells of the War of Independence with Spain. This new beginning band piece by Mike Hannickel honors all the brilliant and dedicated space visionaries who stayed here on Earth, but whose efforts made space exploration a reality. The simplest of rhythms, careful scoring and easily achieved instrument ranges are hallmarks of the Curnow Music Press Great Foundations Series, which is carefully designed to get your beginning band off to an exciting start. This composition limits the upper brass range to a sixth, while the low brass parts encompass a range of only a fifth.
