The composer states:'The term 'oblique strategies? was coined jointly by British musician Brian Eno and German-born British visual artist Peter Schmidt to describe a series of printed cards they developed throughout the 1970's. The cards had their origins in sets of uncannily similar working principles that both artists had established independently, and featured aphorisms intended as a means of triggering inspiration or providing useful stimulus during the creative process, particularly when encountering difficulties of fatigue or time constraint.As Eno and Schmidt wrote in their introduction to the first edition in 1975: 'They can be used as a pack (a set of possibilities being continuously reviewed in the mind) or by drawing a single card from the shuffled pack when a dilemma occurs in a working situation. In this case, the card is trusted even if its appropriateness is quite unclear. Scholarly critical edition with many corrections in the score and orchestral parts.Clear presentation of orchestral parts in an enlarged format 25.5 cm x 32.5 cm.?Prélude A L?Aprés-Midi D?Un Faune? often referred to as the first composition of the ?modern? era is one of Debussy?s most popular and frequently performed orchestral works. The piece comes down to us in an array of sources and several important ones are drawn upon for the first time in Bärenreiter?s scholarly-critical edition.Most of the currently available editions are based on the first edition from 1895 which however contains many engraver errors.When the corresponding orchestral parts are also taken into consideration countless discrepancies are revealed.Bärenreiter?s Urtext edition incorporates readings of a printed copy of the score from c. 1908 which shows corrections and emendations by the composer. These important changes found in no other source include metronome markings different pitches and additional notes as well as added tempo and articulation markings which all subtly enhance Debussy?s finely sculpted work. There is even a breath mark added to the famous solo Flute passage which opens the work.

All the sounds areproduced as natural harmonics or on open strings. There are noharmonics higher than the sixth. So thesesounds should be clearand resonant. Even so balancing the harmonics with the openstrings requires careful attention. The durations of the individual pieces are given at the end of each.The totalduration of the set is about ten minutes.

Scrape for Cello Solo with Metal Plate Playback Track (CD) and Diffusion. Programme Note Scrape was written for Kammerensemble Neue Musik (KNM)’s HouseMusik event at Siemens factory (Dynamowerk) Berlin 20th June 2009 and first performed by Ringela Riemke with sound diffusion by André Bartetzki and distortion by the composer. Scrape was written under the influence of Deleuze & Guattari’s reflections on sound territory and classical music and also in relation to the huge industrial territory of the Siemens turbinefactory in Berlin. The piece brings together various pre-recorded and live metal scraping sounds with the instrumental timbres of a cello. Sounds from these disparate sources sometimes merge and are sometimes presented as clearly contrasting. The piece seeks possible relations between musician instrument metal-plate industrial sound and the resonating industrial building and seeks these relations anew each time it is transferred to a new cellist or performance space. Based on the Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn.Orchestral parts available in a large format (25.5 x 32.5 cm).Haydn?s Symphony No.26 received its nickname Lamentazione during his lifetime though it is unclear whether this stems directly from the composer. This work probably originated no later than 1770. Its first and second movements quote excerpts from Gregorian chants used in Holy Week. In Haydn?s day it was customary to play individual movements in church services and it may be assumed that these two movements were performed and possibly composed independently from each other.Continuing thecollaboration between Bärenreiter and the Henle publishing company in the areas of large-scale choral works operas and symphonies Haydn?s Symphony No.26 is appearing based on the Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn.
