Par HAYDN FRANZ JOSEF. Along with Symphonies Nos. 80 and 81, Haydn's Symphony in F major Hob. I:79 belongs to a group of works that he composed in late 1784. He wrote them for his employer Prince Nikolaus Esterházy who wished to be entertained with new music. The symphonies were tailored for the twenty-five to thirty musicians who were in the prince's court orchestra. Continuing the cooperation between Bärenreiter and the G. Henle publishing company regarding Haydn's large-scale choral works, operas and symphonies, this edition is based on the G. Henle Complete Edition of the 'Works of Joseph Haydn”. Mon Concerto pour orchestre (2007) est une oeuvre de vingt minutes dans laquelle les différentes sections de l'orchestre, ainsi que différents solos et duos du sein de l'orchestre, sont mis en évidence que la musique se déploie. Le travail continue mon intérêt pour les formes à deux mouvement qui a commencé avec mon Concerto pour violoncelle (1991), et plus tard a été développé dans Sortilège (1996) et la Symphonie (Broken Consort) (2004). Dans ces oeuvres, et dans le Concerto pour orchestre, chaque mouvement est le même poids et de l'importance avec le second développement de matériel plus tôt et prendre de nouvelles directions.La forme en deux mouvements du Concerto pour orchestre vient d'une structure symphonique sonate, remodeler la forme en quatre mouvements traditionnels et en combinant cela avec les aspects de la forme sonate, une tradition qui remonte à Liszt, Schoenberg et Sibelius:1er mouvement (i) l'exposition d'idées - dramatique et soudaine (ii) scherzo et développement 1 - résolue2ème mouvement (iii) adagio - calme et tranquille (iv) le développement 2 avec récapitulation - intense et énergiqueLe Concerto pour orchestre a été commandée par le Musikalische Akademie des Nationaltheatre-Orchesters Mannheim avec le soutien de Die Landesbank Baden-Württemberg pour ses deux premières représentations le 31 Mars et 1er Avril 2008 réalisée par Friedemann Layer. Hob I:81. Par HAYDN FRANZ JOSEF. Haydn' s Symphony in G major Hob. I:81 comes from a series of three symphonies completed in late 1784 (nos. 81, 80 and 79, presumably in that order). No autograph score survives for Hob. I:81, thus our Urtext edition is based on copyists' manuscripts and first editions. As with so many of his symphonies, Haydn wrote this one to provide new music for his employer, Prince Nikolaus Esterházy. Continuing the collaboration between Bärenreiter and the G. 'La Mer?, which is an impressionistic work through and through, was composed between 1903-1905. Debussy however refined this work up until at least 1913. These corrections are found in a score which Debussy gave to his wife as a present for her private library in 1913.The new scholarly-critical edition draws on several important sources previously unavailable to musicologists, resulting in an array of new readings and corrections. In addition, there are many changes, a.o. in terms of articulation and dynamics.This new edition includes the famous 'fanfare? in Movement III, clearly marked in small print and brackets. This fanfare was excised in the 1910 reissue of the work, but was reinstated by a number of great conductors who knew Debussy, i.e. Monteux, Münch, Mitropoulos and Ansermet. They felt that the excision was a misunderstanding and that the fanfare was necessary for the structure of the movement. 'The title, No other people., is taken from Raymond Roussel's New Impressions of Africa, a fifty-nine page poem which took him fifteen years to write - a length of time mainly caused by his tortuous compositional methods. In Roussel, sentences are broken down in maze-like ways, often producing others which relate to the sound of the original. I'm not aware of any direct, illustrative connection between the music of No other people. and Roussel's book. But I was very struck by the everydayness of Zo's drawings. There is something poignant in his not knowing what he was illustrating. Like the drawings of a blind person. Their banality takes on a mysteriousness by being placed by Roussel in his book, seeming to illustrate bizarre events unknown to Zo. They are impersonal, the people in them unaware that they lead another life in a poem of which they know nothing. Something of this is in the music.' Gerald Barry, 2009/ Répertoire / Orchestre

Like Beethoven’s Ninth, this so-called “Organ Symphony” was commissioned by the Philharmonic Society in London, where itreceived its premiere on 19 May 1886. In this first scholarly-critical edition of the symphony, a great many inconsistencies and mistakes inherent in the previously used edition have been unveiled and corrected.
