Who doesn’t know the children’s TV series Thunderbirds. The Gerry Anderson classic is still as popular today with both children and adults as when it was first shown in the sixties. This arrangement of the theme tune will be loved by all and will leave your audience humming it all the way home. Thunderbirds ist eine legendäre englische Fernsehserie aus den Sechzigern über einen futuristischen, weltweit operierenden Rettungsdienst. Die Serie, in der die Figuren von Puppen gespielt werden, genießt heute Kultstatus. Ihren Erfolg verdankt sie nicht zuletzt Barry Grays Musik im Stil der großen amerikanischen Kinofilme. Twins is a composition about two children, born at the same moment, growing up together yet with totally different characters. One twin is sensitive and introverted whilst the other is much more lively and energetic. This is reflected in the musical motifs of thepiece. The quiet first melody which gains tension through continuous transposition is succeeded by the joyous rocking melody of the second twin.

The composition Kefas was written for the brass band 'Apollo' from Grou (The Netherlands), by order of the Unisono Foundation, the organisation for wind music in The Netherlands.The assignment was given on account of earning the Champions Title during the Dutch Brass Band Championships in the year 2001 (4th division). The theme of the composition links the tradition of the village Grou, not to celebrate Sint Nicolaas but Sint Pieter.By this typical Dutch festivity (in December) the holy Nicolaas gives presents to the children. It is a popular custom where young and old participate. Grou is the only place where this is not done by Sint Nicolaas but by Sint Pieter.Apart from that, on the 22th of Februari, a lot of festivities that take place,resemble those of the Sinterklaas celebration. In the composition two Sint Pieter songs are processed, set through bible scenes, wherein in among others the visit of Christ to the house of Peter's Mother-in-law and the calling of Peter are depicted. The title refers to the pronouncement of Christ, where he named Peter the rock on which he shall build his church. The Hebrew word for rock is Kephas. Kefas was premiered in 2003.

In The Essence of Youth the composer gives an insight into childhood and youth — inspired by his own daughter. The opening of sparking rhythms, dynamic contrasts and changes of time signature paint a vivid picture of the unpredictability of children. The first and second movements recount the love — and also tension and the worries — in the adult-child bond, through dissonant harmonies but also pretty melodies. The fugue-like ending leads to a final splendid chorale: a picture of proud parents with their child! In The Essence of Youth geeft de componist zijn visie op de kindertijd en de jeugd. Zijn eigen dochter vormde hierbij een belangrijke inspiratiebron. De opening staat met opgewekte ritmes, dynamische contrasten en maatsoortwisselingen voor de spontaniteit van kinderen. Het eerste en tweede deel vertellen over de liefde, zorg en toewijding die horen bij een ouder-kindrelatie. Met dissonante harmonieën, maar ook met mooie melodieën weet de componist dit prachtig te verbeelden. Een fuga leidt ten slotte naar een prachtig koraal: de trotse ouders met hun kind verbeeldend. A brief history: Pentecost Monday was a special day for schools in Yorkshire (England). There were a variety of activities. The pupils of Sabine Baring-Gould would meet with the children of a nearby village. It seemed like a good idea that during the walk would be sung. But she could not find a suitable song and decided to write one by herself. Onward Christian Soldiers was the result. It soon became very popular, though she herself was not entirely satisfied with the rhyme scheme. The melody used (St. Gertrude) was by the famous English composer Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Back to now: Gawan Roberts, has given the hymn a proper update. He gave the still popularsong a solid rock beat and added daring harmonies. So it's popular, for current generations, again for years. Onward! Een stukje geschiedenis: Pinkster-Maandag was een bijzondere dag voor de scholen in Yorkshire (Engeland). Er vonden allerlei activiteiten plaats. De leerlingen van Sabine Baring-Gould zouden samenkomen met de kinderen van eennaburig dorp. Het leek haar een goed idee, dat er tijdens de wandeling er naar toe, gezongen zou worden. Ze kon echter geen geschikt lied vinden en besloot er zelf maar één te schrijven. ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ was het resultaat.Het werd spoedig erg populair, al was ze zelf niet geheel tevreden over het rijmschema. De gebruikte melodie (St. Gertrude) was van de bekende Engelse componist Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Terug naar nu: Gawan Robertsheeft de hymne een behoorlijke update gegeven. Hij voorzag het nog steeds populaire lied van een stevige rockbeat en voegde af en toe gewaagde harmonisaties (samenklanken) toe. Zo kan het, ook voor de huidige generaties, weerjaren mee. Onward!

The Spirit of Christmas is a medley of charming Christmas carols, all with an international character. The medley consists of the following five carols: Away in a Manger - The First Noel - It Came Upon the Midnight Clear - O Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. A four-part choir part in English has been added which can be used ad lib. or you can also opt for singing the melody line only, for example with a soloist and/or the congregation. The second part brings us to the nearby church of St. Hippolytus-Olterterp while the final section describes the children playing in the woods of Sparjebird. The composer:1st movement: Reflections by the Fjord.Overlooking one of the mighty fjords of Norway, my mind and thoughts are with an old religious Norwegian folk-tune, with words by the famous parson Peter Dass.The majestic fanfare-likeopening reflects the power of God our Father, the choral itself heard for the first time on flugelhorn. The choral is repeated a few times, separated only by some short variations. The movement ends in thriumph, with fanfares and the choral broughttogether.2nd movement: Reflections in the Old Church.In this movement my associations of a summer day, finding myself alone in an old deserted stone church. From the old walls I hear folk songs, perhaps like the ones sung in the church bypoor fishermen and farmers in days gone by. Suddenly the light from the sun breakes through the small circular window above the altar, and a lovely melody is heard, before the original figures take us to the end of the movement.3rd movement:Festive Reflections.Any festive occasion can be reflected in this movement. from the bonfire at midsummer-night to the children celebrating the return of the sun in the northern part of Norway. from the traditional sleigh-riding at Christmas tothe Celebrations of the National Day on the 17th of May each year.De componist: 1e deel: Reflections by the Fjord. Uitkijkend over een van de machtige fjorden van Noorwegen, zijn mijn geest en gedachten bij een oude, religieuze Noorse folk-melodie, met woorden van de beroemde dominee Peter Dass. Het koraal wordt een aantal keren herhaald, slechts onderbroken door enkele korte variaties. Het deel eindigttriomfantelijk, met fanfares en het koraal bij elkaar gebracht. 2e deel: Reflections in the Old Church. In dit deel mijn denkbeelden van een zomerse dag, ik zie mezelf staan in een oude, verlaten stenen kerk. Weerkaatsend tussen de oudemuren hoor ik volksliederen, misschien wel zoals die in de kerk gezongen werden door arme vissers en boeren in vervlogen tijden. Plotseling breekt het licht van de zon door de kleine ronde ramen boven het altaar, en ik hoor een prachtigemelodie, voordat het oorspronkelijke thema ons naar het einde van het deel voert. 3e deel: Festive Reflections. Feestelijke gelegenheden kunnen worden weerspiegeld in dit deel, van het nachtelijk midzomer vuur tot de kinderen die deterugkeer van de zon in het noordelijk deel van Noorwegen vieren, van het traditionele sleerijden met Kerstmis tot aan de viering van de Nationale Dag op 17 mei van elk jaar toe.Gobelin Music Publications.

In English-speaking countries ‘Away in a Manger’ is one of the first Christmas songs to be taught to little children. It is a moving song with simple words, which makes it easy to understand. The song is also known as ‘Luther’s Cradle Hymn’. This suggests that Martin Luther was the author of the lyrics. According to researchers, however, this is a misconception the author is unknown. In England ‘Away in a Manger’ is sung to a different melody than in the USA, for example. The ‘English’ melody was composed by W.J. Kirkpatrick. Andrew Mackereth made a touching arrangement of the ‘English’ melody, which suits the tender lyrics perfectly.In Engelstalige landen is ‘Away in a Manger’ een van de eerste kerstliedjes dat de kinderen geleerd wordt. Het is een gevoelig lied met een eenvoudige en daarom aansprekende tekst. Het lied staat ook wel bekend als ‘Luther’sCradle Hymn’. Dit suggereert dat Martin Luther de schrijver van de tekst is. In 1973 Juan Carlo Calderón wrote Eres Tu for the Spanish Basque pop group Mocedades. The song was placed second in that years Eurovision Song Contest and is one of only five Spanish language songs to get into the US top ten. Subsequently the song was translated into 15 different languages including an English version entitled Touch the Wind. This romantic ballad is a great inspirational item that will be well received by your audience. In imitation of the huge ‘House rage’ (at the end of the eighties) John Emerson Blackstone composed ‘House of Dance’ for youth orchestra. It proved to be a success. House owes its name to the place where this music was ‘developed’, i.e. an old night club called ‘The Warehouse’ in Chicago. Many subcultures followed. Whether you like the style or not, one thing is certain: House music (also called Dance music) for many provides the basis for hours of fun on the dance floor.In navolging van de enorme ‘house-rage’ (eind 80er jaren) schreef John Emerson Blackstone deze ‘House of Dance’ voor jeugdorkest. Het bleek een schot in de roos. House dankt zijn naam aan de plaats waar deze muziek ‘ontstond’,‘the Warehouse’ in Chicago. Er volgden vele sub-culturen.
