Going North was commissioned by the Young People’s Chorus of New York for ‘Transient Glory the Voices of Children’ Francisco J. Nunez artistic director. First performed at the Transient Glory Concert on 29th April 2006 at the Ethical Culture Society New York City. The composer writes of her composition 'It is challenging to find a way to compose that hopefully will be interesting and fun for young people and yet not too difficult. A major concern of course is to find the right text: something that will be appreciated by urban young people. I thought that this 'nonsense' poem of John Keats would be highly suitable. It is set for young voices soprano and alto andaccompanied by two clarinets.'

John Joubert (b. 1927) is a British composer. Born in Cape Town he studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has lived and worked in the UK ever since. His compositions span a wide range of genres from large scale symphonic and operatic works to chamber music and choral miniatures. All Wisdom Cometh From The Lord (Op. 62) was composed in 1969 having been commissioned by Michele Clement for the choir of Queenswood School in Hatfield. It is scored for SA two-part Female Voice Choir with Organ accompaniment. It takes its text from extracts from the first chapter of Ecclesiastes.

Muriel Herbert (1897-1984) was a British composer pianist and singer. She studied at the Royal College of Music where she met Charles Stanford and Roger Quilter. She wrote many songs for Voice and Piano in her early life as well as some instrumental and orchestral works but stopped composing after her husband left her in 1939. Her works were largely unappreciated until twenty years after her death but they have now quite rightly become the subject of a keen and enthusiastic revival with a growing fan base. The Lake Of Innisfree was one of her most popular works. It is a setting of a poem by the Irish poet W. B. Yates (1865-1939).

Taking a text from As You Like It for its lyrics Under The Greenwood Tree (Op.24 No.1) was written in 1917 by Herbert Howells. It is the first in a collection of 3 songs all of which are settings of poems from plays by Shakespeare. It is scored for two Voice parts (either soloists or choruses) with Piano accompaniment and dedicated to Brian.Herbert Howells (1892-1983) was an English composer and teacher who is perhaps best known for his choral music in the Anglican tradition.

Designed specially for schools without an SATB choir this collection contains 21 settings for unison and two-part voices. These arrangements all compatible with The Novello Book Of Carols are scored for tuned and untuned percussion two melody parts (each in C and B flat) guitar chords bass line and simplified piano. When asked to compose an anthem for the wedding scene in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Nicholas Nickleby Stephen Oliver went back to his musical roots as a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral and chose the text from Psalm 128 associated with the Marriage Service.
