When Joseph Haydn assumed the position as music director of the Court of Esterhazy in 1766, following the death of his predecessor, Gregor Joseph Werner, he began by composing his first and most extensive Missa solemnis. The title Missa Cellensis (later also known as the Cecilian Mass) and the date of an autograph score suggest that this work was probably commissioned by Prince Nicolaus Esterhazy for the 600th anniversary of the pilgrimage church Mariazell located in Styria. With regard to the scoring as well as form, this Mass is still in the tradition of the late baroque number mass. In contrast to previous mixed versions based on various sources, the new edition follows the authentic (original) version using the most reliable sources. Grief, Solace, and Trust The 10-lieder cycle, Biblical Songs op. 99, was composed in the spring of 1894 in New York City, where Antonin Dvorak lived for nearly two years. Homesickness and sad news of the death of composer friends, together with his own father's poor state of health, may have prompted Dvorak to choose the intimate form and religious subject. All of the cycle's texts derive from the Book of Psalms in the Old Testament. Klaus Uwe Ludwig's moving organ arrangement, close to the original, is based on the Dvorak Complete Edition. In translating the text from Czech to German, Ludwig respected to the utmost the content and speech rhythms paramount in the original.

This traditional American spiritual, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, has been extended by composed introductions and endings, or interludes and written solos. The notated solos here are the results of more than ten years of the arranger's personal experience with these tunes and chord changes. The organ part may also be played on acoustic piano if the bass voice is played one octave lower in respective passages---these passages are marked. There is a transposed part for B-flat and E-flat saxophones. Due to the different register of the tenor and alto saxophone, a few notes of the alto saxophone parts have been changed for a more effective sound.

Carus published the original version of Bruckner's Te Deum for soloists, choir and large orchestra (Carus 27.190) in the fall of 2015. In order to make this work available for performance by smaller-sized ensembles [und einem weiteren Benutzerkreis zuganglich zu machen] Carus now presents it in an arrangement for brass quintet and organ. The brass parts are orientated essentially towards those in Bruckner's orchestral version, while the organ part follows the original string parts.
