En effet, cette pièce est fondée sur l'exploration des résonances dans le grave du piano à travers l'évolution d'une arabesque obsessionnelle qui est animée par des dynamiques contrastées et un usage précis de la pédale. Cette vague qui n'est pas sans rappeler la formule pianistique de Gretchen am Spinnrade de Schubert est variée tout au long des 14 minutes de la pièce soit sur le plan des hauteurs, soit sur celui de la durée (la vague étant tour à tour raccourcie ou allongée, donnant naissance à des formules à leur tour développées). Papillons est une pièce procédurale, continue, une oeuvre de flux, créée le 9 septembre 2014 par son dédicataire, Philippe Bianconi, lors du festival Piano aux Jacobins de Toulouse qui fut commanditaire de l'oeuvre. / Contemporain / Répertoire / Piano
