Three Études For Viola was composed by American composer and arranger Nico Muhly. Written for Nadia Sirot one of Muhly's friends. Three Études For Viola was designed as performance pieces as well as practice the Études help to deal with the messy fifth-based string crossings Muhly's harmonic language sometimes outlines. These three études can be performed in any order all together or singularly. The pre-recorded material for Three Études For Viola should be mixed in such a way that the Viola rides in the middleof the texture. Étude 2 however should favour the solo Viola. In autumn 1895 after returning from New York once and for all Dvo ák took up his former position as teacher at the Prague Conservatory. This clearly had an inspiring impact on him because in the space of just four weeks hecomposed a new string quartet in G major. Together with the Quartet in A-flat major op. 105 it forms a glorious close to his chamber music oeuvre. Echoes of Bohemian folk music are here mixed with cantabile themes while hismotivic working shows him to be a master at the height of his powers. Even today it seems almost as if we can feel the composer?s satisfaction with this work: ?I am working so easily and it is going so smoothly that I could notwish it better?.

Cantata for soloists choir and orchestra-Lobe den Herrn meine Seele (Praise thou the Lord o my spirit) BWV 143Little is known about the genesis of “Lobe den Herrn meine Seele” (Praise thou the Lord o my spirit BWV 143.A transcription from the 19th century was for a long time considered the only source; the musical text of the “New Bach Edition” was based on this material.  Recently however a copy of the score from 1762 has become available.  It offers a more reliable musical text rendering a complete revision of the cantata necessary.On the basis of this new source the work is presented here as part of the“New Bach Edition – Revised” in what is presumably its original form in C major with three trumpets.  This orchestration is more typical of Bach’s writing than the version for three horns in the surviving B-flat major version.
