Par CAGE JOHN. Bacchanale, John Cage\'s first work to exploit his influential \'prepared piano\' technique, arose from a request for musical accompaniment by dancer Syvilla Fort. Intending to write her a percussion piece, Cage discovered that the theater in which the premiere was to take place was too small to accommodate any instruments beyond the piano already present, and instead adapted the piano into a palette of percussive sounds by placing small foreign objects among the strings. A new arrangement by guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan translates this six-minute work from the prepared piano to an even more novel instrumentation: a duo of prepared guitars, the sound of their vibrating strings transformed by the addition of alligator clips, washers, and slips of paper. This performing score (EP 6784a) includes detailed, illustrated instructions from the arranger on how to prepare the instruments. The original version of Bacchanale is now available for sale in John Cage\'s Prepared Piano Music 1940-47, Vol. 1 (EP 67886a). Duets For Two Acoustic Guitars-The Christmas season has always been special to me. It is a season that has crystallized the hopes aspirations and faith of millions of people through the centuries. The amount of music written for Christmas is monumental.This book contains 14 scores from my Christmas Guitar Portraits recording. I selected various genres dear to me.First there are selections from the early American sacred song tradition. The Babe of Bethlehem Cherry Tree Carol A Star in the East The Shepherd's Star A Virgin Unspotted and I Wonder As I Wander all are from this rich heritage.I also picked a number of carols from theOld English genre. Away In The Manger Green Grow'th the Holly and What Child is This are included.Then there are the Christmas favourites. In the Bleak Mid-winter and a medley ofBaloo Lammy; The First Noel and Silent Night make any Christmas complete. Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence is one of my favourite Advent hymns. Gaudete Christus est natus is arousing carol dating back many centuries.Finally I included two originals. Lullay My Liking is an ancient carol text. Many composers over the centuries have written melodies to these lyrics most notably GustavHolst. I could not resist the temptation so the melody here is original. Finally Christmas Prayer is a new composition. I have always wanted to compose and arrange music designed to bring the Plectrum or Flatpick Guitarto the concert stage. These arrangements were written with that in mind.

Father Antonio Soler was born in Spain in 1729. Priest and composer he was also a brilliant exponent of the Harpsichord and composed more than two hundred sonatas for that instrument as well as concertos for the Organ ninemasses and sixty psalm settings part of a total output of around five hundred works.  These Three Sonatas are composed for Guitar duet. Appointed Master of the Chapel to the royalmonastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial he died there in 1783.

The main body of the piece stays true to the original composition, as true as possible that is, considering that is has been adapted for the guitar. With this arrangement comes a set of performance notes which offer conceptual and technical insights. / 2 Guitares
