Composed by the famous harpist Henriette Renié, Pine trees of Charlannes is an easy small piece for lever harp with piano or harp accompaniment. This piece for beginners is really nice to play and to start playing ensemble music. The principal harp sections feature some really melodious sections and some sections with quavers going up. It alternates these sections with the accompaniment played by the piano or a second harp. Henriette Renié was a virtuoso French harpist born in 1875. With professors such as Alphonse Hasselmans and Théodore Dubois, she received the First Prize for the Harp in 1887. She wrote numerous works for harp including chamber music, and a concerto.

Rediscovering, studying and analyzing the musical art of Philipp Joseph Hinner means enhancing a piece of the eighteenth-century harp music mosaic. The harp repertoire has long been overshadowed by the keyboard one, which boasts extensive solo and chamber literature, and consolidated for over two centuries. The rediscovery of the history of our instrument, however, is still recent and the research work in the field of harp music is still long.Hinner, with the apparent simplicity of his opus 10, can thus regain his role in the harp repertoire of the eighteenth century, as well as covering a considerable didactic value today. The part of the first harp undoubtedly presents characteristics of greater rhythmic and virtuosic complexity than that of the second, which consists of a continuous accompaniment interspersed with simple thematic imitated episodes. Written by Francois Joseph Naderman (1781-1835), Sonatinas Progressive, Op. 92 consists of a series of seven small sonatas. The level of difficulty alternates between intermediate and advanced as these can be played at different speeds but necessitates some strong technique as well as some pedal changes. These Sonatinas Progressive, Op. 92 are still considered as some of the most famous pieces of the harp repertoire today. Francois Joseph Naderman was a classical harpist, composer and teacher at the Paris Conservatoire. His vocation was developed by growing up as the son of a Luthier harp maker. He also wrote Sonatas for harp, harp and cello, studies and other pieces.

The viola solo courbe 2 is based on an excerpt from the viola part in the Trio for flute, viola and harp << courbes >> - sequences. In the densest time curve of this piece the viola plays the leading role for a span of almost three minutes. This material is taken from the Trio, presented and divided into separate parts. courbe 2 is three times longer in duration than the Trio excerpt from which it is derived. The musical text of the individual fragments remains as it is in the original, but, pulsating, demarcated in seconds. Fissures emerge between the fragments, windows open: - to harmonic fields, central sounds, taken over from the reverberations, from which new tone material is derived; the fields in turn are distorted and spacialised by the electronics - to metrical structures and pulses freed from the individual motives of the original musical text, which forms new variants in interaction with these fields. Thus in courbe 2 which, as already indicated, is three times longer in duration than the original, three musical levels are interpenetrated, whereby all three are derived from one tone, which plays an absolutely central role in most of my works. It is a reference to the French writer Anne-Marie Albiach (and to her great text << H II >> lineaires), and it remains as the only tone at the end of the piece, definitively, determining everything, b = 247 Hertz. Castle on a Cloud is sung by the child Cosette in Les Miserables. It is a hopeful song of her imaginary world where life is beautiful, and she is not subjected to the drudgery of her hard existence. Sylvia Woods has arranged this lilting song for lever or pedal harp. There are 7 lever changes in the piece, so it is for lower intermediate to intermediate level players. Fingerings and lyrics are included, as well as lever and pedal changes. Two, 2-page versions are included: one for lever harps tuned to C, and the other for lever harps tuned to flats. Pedal harpists can play either version. The arrangement for lever harps tuned to C is in the key of D (2 sharps), with A and C lever changes needed. The arrangement for lever harps tuned to flats is in the key of C, with B and G lever changes needed. Either version may be played on most small harps with about 26 strings if you play everything an octave higher than written. There are special instructions in the introduction telling you what you'll need to change if you have a small harp.
