He also produced a version for string orchestra and both were published in 1926. Two years later in 1928 he made this arrangement for full orchestra. This new edition corrects a few minor errors that were present in the 1928 edition published by Curwen and also shows the trumpets in Bb; they were shown in C originally. The six movements which are based on sixteenth century dance tunes are:- Basse-Danse Pavane Tordion Bransles Pieds-en-l´air Mattachins.

Invocation was composed in 1911 and first performed on May 2nd of that year in the Queen's Hall London by May Mukle with the New Symphony Orchestra conducted by Landon Ronald. The work received several performances with Piano accompaniment before 1914 but with the public success of The Planets it became one of many works that Holst never had time to revise or publish. A certain amount of editing of dynamics and phrasing has been necessary and the Piano reduction has occasionally been slightly adjusted to match the orchestral accompaniment more closely. The separate Cello part has been edited by Julian Lloyd Webber.

In 1918 Gabriel Fauré, then 73 years old, received a commission from Prince Albert I of Monaco to write stage music invoking the atmosphere of the commedia dell?arte. The four-movement orchestral suite Op.112, consisting of Ouverture, Menuet, Gavotte and Pastorale, combines previously unpublished parts of this stage music. The Pastorale of 1919 was Fauré?s last composition for orchestra, the Ouverture originated in a piece of 1864 for piano duet and the original version of the Gavotte was written for piano as early as 1869. The Op.112 orchestral suite demonstrates how the composer, now older and more experienced, reworked and improved his earlier music. Hawkes Pocket Scores HPS 1528-Completed in short score in 2006 the composer played the symphony to his son Miko aj on the piano that summer commenting on many details. It fell to Miko aj to complete the orchestration following his father’s death in 2010.The impetus for the work came from the director of the Tansman Festival in ód birthplace of the naturalised French composer Alexandre Tansman. The work’s principal motives are based on letters taken from Tansman’s name. The 38-minute symphony is scored for large orchestra including quadruple woodwind and brass and prominent parts for piano organ and three bass drums.

Invisible Cities for Orchestra by Swedish composer Britta Byström (2013). Programme note: Invisible Cities is an orchestral piece inspired by the Italian writer Italo Calvino's novel 'Le città invisible' (1972). The novel consists of many short poetical descriptions of wondrous cities. This is what the explorer Marco Polo reports to Kublai Khan of what he has seen during his travels. Gradually though Kublai Khan begins to suspect that Marco Polo all the time describes one and the same city but in many different ways: Marco Polo's own hometownVenice.  This was also my musical idea: to present the same motif in many different ways. The piece has eleven movements just as the novel consists of eleven different kinds of cities. Before every new musical 'city' there is a 'walk' – a little piano line which takes the listener from one city to another. This piano line is a quotation from Witold Lutoslawski'sVenetian Games. There are also other music connected to Venice hidden in my piece: the well-known Barcarolle by Offenbach and some fragments from Carnival in Venice. These references are the 'invisible cities' of my piece the material hidden under the music's surface. Marco Polo explains to Kublai Khan: 'To distinguish the other cities' qualities I must speak of a first city that remains implicit. Joseph Addison is not particularly well known; he was English a classical scholar essayist poet and politician but one of his hymns was used by Benjamin Britten. in his setting of a Thomas Tallis canon.The hymn is singularly beautiful and being a composer always inspired by extramusical stimuli such as poems nature paintings I was immediately convinced when I carne across the Addison hymn that here was exactly what I wanted to use as my major source of inspiration for this piece commissioned by and written for The Berlin Philharmonic. I don't refer to the hymn in its entirety but have chosen the following 3 excerpts all acting as mottos for the first three sections of the piece thus turning the piece into a straightforward tonepoem in the classical

Score-Carlos Surinach?was a Catalan Spanish-born composer and conductor. He composed three ballet scores for the esteemed choreographer Martha Graham: ?Embattled Garden? (1958) ?Acrobats of God? (1960) and ?The Owl and the Pussycat? (1978). He also composed for the Joffrey Ballet (?Feast of Ashes?). Composed by the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinü in 1927  La Revue De Cuisine is a ballet initially created for a sextet. This score was reviewed and tailored for an Orchestra. This ballet talking about the life of kitchen utensils is divided in ten sections: 1. Prologue (Allegretto) 2. Introduction (Tempo de marche) 3. Danse du moulinet autour du caudron (Poco meno) 4. Danse du chaudron et du couvercle (Allegro) 5. Tango (Danse d'amour. Lento) 6. Duel (Poco a poco allegro. Tempo di Charleston) 7. Entracte (Lamentation du chaudron. Allegro moderato) 8. The Concerto for Violin was written in early 2012 for Philip Ficsor. The four movements conceived separately are intended to have the feeling of a suite rather than a verbose heavy interpretation of the concerto form. The first movement A Little Parlour Music carries the subtitle after Poulenc in a reflection of the lightness and charm of that composer's work. The second movment Remembrance of Things Past is the most expressive of the movements. The third movement Santa Barbara Rag is full of syncopated rhythm and humor with even a slight reference to another well-known rag. And the fourth movement John Adams Light looks back at the early minimalism of Adams with itsrepitition and constant motion. The concerto is available with piano reduction and for rental with the full orchestra accompaniment.
