Par TORSKANGERPOLL IDAR. This piece was commissioned by Langhus Skolekorps junior band for their autumnal concert in 2022, where all ensembles of the band played jazz in one form. The piece is a sort of blues with a big focus on the bass line. This riff is very poignant during the whole item. The piece has a solo section which can be made open to accommodate more soloists, also with improvisational solos. Par UTBULT JAN. “The Inner Wing” is a happy, mid-tempo jazz tune! The title refers partly to a bird’s wing, but also to a small group of islands in the archipelago of Gothenburg. The parts are written to be funny and developing to play for the musicians, but also sound good together. The piece feature a 16-bar improvisation for Part 1 beginning in measure 21. For the first 8 bars, a suggestion for improvisation is written. For the last 8 bars, one might play Part 1 as written or improvise freely.
