?Hey Brother? ?Levels? and ?Without you? are now available for six-part mixed or female choir. The arrangements offer a wide variety of vocal and choral possibilities and attention has been paid that all parts are of the same musical standard. Whether homophonic or unisono they artfully intertwine from one passage to the next. However for all their sophistication the arrangements remain manageable and easy to learn displaying the typical groove of each Avicii song within a multi-layered texture.

Jane and Cassandra Austen wrote these poems along with their mother. They were the result of a parlor game in which each line ended in a rhyme with the word 'rose'. Canadian composer Eleanor Daley scored these poems for unaccompanied treble (SSAA) chorus.

This work for soprano solo and SATB chorus was commissioned by the Norwich Festival of Contemporary Church Music.Tavener:'In the Orthodox Church the Lament of the Mother of God is normally sung on Holy and Great Friday. Inits full length it lasts about half and hour and it is intoned by the Priest or Bishop while the people venerate the Epitaphios (or Shroud of the Dead Christ) which is in the centre of the church and decorated withflowers.The Lament must be sung with an ikon-like stillness and great purity. It grows in intensity as it climbs in tessitura but without anything sudden or remotely melodramatic.For the Orthodox Church there is never thesense of absolute desolation felt by the Western Church on Good Friday. Hence the cry of the Mother of God 'Dost thou change my grief to gladness by thy Resurrection?' followed by the full forces: 'Rise O God and judge theearth.'Mother of God also features in the film Philomena starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan and directed by Stephen Frears.

Music runs through the story of Arion which begins with a singing competition in Sicily. Arion wins the prize and this puts his life in danger: his newfound wealth excites the greed of the sailors who are supposed to be bringing him back to Corinth and they threaten to kill him. They allow Arion to sing one last song and the power of his singing attracts dolphins to the ship.  At the end of his song he jumps overboard and one of the dolphins carries him to safety.  So Arion’s musical gift gets him into trouble but it is also his salvation.   The idea of being rescued by a music-loving dolphin is very appealing. In Robert Graves’account of the myth the dolphin could not bear to be parted from Arion and accompanied him back to court where “it soon succumbed to a life of luxury.”  However Herodotus says that after his rescue and return to Corinth Arion failed to return the dolphin to the sea and it died there.  Apollo placed the dolphin among the stars and next to it Arion’s lyre in recognition of his musical skill.  This is one of the mythical explanations of the origins of the constellations Delphinus and Lyra. It seems natural to sing a story that has singing at its heart. When I was asked by the Nicholas Berwin Charitable Trust to write a choral work for Making Music something that would be within reach of many choirs and involve children this story struck me as ideal: the men of the chorus could be the bloodthirsty sailors and the women could create an atmosphere of mystery for the arrival of the dolphins represented by children’s voices. There would be one solo voice: Arion the marvellous singer. Andrew Fardell the conductor who was advisor to this commission had suggested that I might use the same instrumentation as a popular arrangement of Orff’s Carmina Burana a work that as well as using children’s chorus features a solo countertenor. This song is an inspired reminder of God's faithfulness. Tender and fragile, the theme opens with innocence and clarity, articulating the seasons of life and the constancy of the Almighty. Though composed in a singer-songwriteridiom, the choral parts are deep and satisfying, bringing warmth and sincerity. A reference to Psalm 119 is crowned with the affirmation, I choose to live in faith, not fear. Truly a song for this season of challenges! Craig Hella Johnson Choral Series-This Dorothy Parker text reveals Mary's youth and courage through the memory of another then-young woman. The bright light and blinding star seen by the narrator nearly thirty years prior is remembered sensitively and with aquiet unison final statement.

Sarah Quartel's Snow Angel for SSAA solo Cello Djembe and Piano. Already a firm favourite with choirs across the world Snow Angel is an evocative five-movement choral work that explores themes of love rebirth and beauty through the eyes of children and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them yearning to make a difference to their lives. The work may be performed with narration in which three angels present their perspectives on their earthly charges. Sarah Quartel weaves a haunting and poignant Cello line throughout the work and a vibrant part for Djembe in movement four 'Sweet child' carriesthe listener from the ethereal and mystical realm the work predominantly inhabits into an emphatic anthem with a distinctly African feel. The musical language is emotive and pictorial allowing performers to play an active role in the storytelling. Snow Angel is also available in a version for SATB.

The Waiting Sky by Oliver Tarney for SSAA unaccompanied.Oliver Tarney has re-worked his popular unaccompanied minature The Waiting Sky for upper voices. The evocative text by Lucia Quinault depicts a rural winter scene and is skilfully set to music by Oliver Tarney to create a lucidly reflective piece. There is a sense in both the text and the music of waiting for the 'shining star' and while it would make a beautiful addition to a concert programme at other times of the year the setting is perfect as a reflective carol for Advent anticipating the wonder of the birth of Christ.

Composer Orlando Gibbons was the leading English composer of his time the late 16th and early 17th century. This five-Voice SSATB madrigal is the best known of his many madrigals and remains compellingly beautiful.The sheet music also includes A Catch on Tobacco by theologian philosopher and composer Dr Henry Aldrich. It dates from 1685 when the composer was Dean of Christ Church Oxford and widely known among his contemporaries as a convivial soul who among his writings created a Latin epigramme listing five reasons for drinking. The performance notes stipulate that the round is to be sung by four men while smoking their pipes.

O that we were there! is a text taken from the Christian hymn In Dulci Jubilo. It expresses a longing to be present at the Incarnation of Christ but it also conveys a longing to be out of the world oftime and space and in an eternal world.This work was written for Sherborne Girls in gratitude for having educated my daughters Theodora and Sofia. It is dedicated to the memory of Blossom Perronelle Barrow who died ofcancer aged 12.
