The first group consisting of violin viola and cello plays a sustained melody while the second group (also violin viola and cello) contributes more jagged and intricate material. The second movement is an extended duetfor two violas accompanied by the other instruments. As the movement progresses the accompanying instruments become more prominent. The third movement is the only fast movement in the piece with rapid semiquavers and much useof pizzicato throughout. This work was arranged for the Myers Park Repertory Orchestra. The concerto is the third from the set of opus 3 concerti titled L'estro Harmonico ('The Harmonic Inspiration'). The work originally for solo violin and orchestra has been adapted for 1st violins and ripieno parts distributed amongst the 2nd violins violas and basso continuo.

These arrangements were written for string ensembles in primary and secondary schools music centres prep schools and for various ensembles at Charterhouse. They grew out of a need for playable yet musically challenging arrangements where maximum 'effect' is obtained by using naturally resonant keys and idiomatic bowings - and have been used and honed over many years. These also recognise the fact that in many schools Viola players are scarce; most of the easier arrangements are therefore in three parts with optional Viola (doubling second Violin) and optional Double Bass (Viola still optional) which can be played if necessary by a Cellist (special part provided). Thearrangements ensure that all departments have the tune or thematic material at some stage - not just the first Violins. Written with the development of young players' technique in mind. Arrangements of 'real' music providing worthwhile musical challenges. No independent Viola part (optional Double Bass and Viola parts provided.) All parts get a go at the tune!

Nowadays works for Wind Instruments especially for Alto Recorder are being published occasionally while works for Violin and Viola Da Gamba have escaped the attention of the researchers. One of the most remarkable composition from among them is the Sonata In B Flat Major for three Violins and Continuo whose period copy present in the library of Uppsala University served as a source for this edition. The piece is interesting especially for its unusalstructure as it is composed as a dialogue between the three concert Violins that are in contrast to the broadly set tutti. In solo parts the composer provides equal space for self-presentation for all three Violins. The edition was prepared by Miloslav Klement.

for String Quartet op. 35a-Josef Suk played second Violin in the Bohemian String Quartet. Since 1914 the ensemble was obliged to perform the Austrian national anthem at the opening of every concert. Suk decided to supplement this obligatory piece with a work inspired by the ancient sacred Bohemian St. Wenceslas hymn. The hymn?s message a plea for the well-being of the Czech people directed at their patron saint was immediately understood by the audience.The Bohemian String Quartet performed this single-movement Meditation for the first time on 27 September 1914; the premiere of the version for string orchestra followed on 22 November 1914 played by the CzechPhilharmonic.
