In addition to his many ‘serious’works Otto M. Schwarz has had much success with several lighter works such as Band Fever Funk Attack and Groovin’ Around. His new seriously funky piece Funky Brass makes a perfect addition to the light brass band repertoire.

Arctic Funk might just as well have been a flashing sequel to a scene from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story. Popular music but with a difference as indicated by the title. The work's quiet section temporarily soothes down the heated passion of its two corner movements but everywhere else action is required throughout. The work was commissioned in 1991 by Troms? Brass. Situated just above the Polar Circle Troms? is one of Norway's northernmost towns. Topographically the town probably comes across as freezing cold but Troms? is famous for its 'warm' night-life. The Composer: In Arctic Funk you might get a feeling of a party that takes place betweenice-rocks and snow-capped mountains.

Cette œuvre est une excellente pièce de concert mais constitue également une œuvre de concours qui sort des sentiers battus.

To(o) Funk(y) est une mélodie d?ouverture courte mais vigoureuse orchestrée par Juri Briat. Cette composition se compose d?un cocktail explosif de funk swing et modern beat enfin l?ouverture idéale de votre concert.

?Play that funky Music? est un éternel classique qui depuis son premier succès dans les années septante est encore souvent interprété et diffusé. Le groove grisant et entraînant garantit une ambiance torride. L?ambiance n?atteint réellement son paroxysme que quand l?orchestre maîtrise bien le groove. A la fin tout le monde - lisez tout ceux qui ne jouent pas d?un instrument à vent - peuvent accompagner en chantant.

New Waves is a special composition. Although contemporary but still attractive to musicians and listeners. Norwegian composer Aagaard-Nilsen has failed in a special way to add new elements to the contemporary wind music. Original exciting rhythms and contrasting harmonies make this composition enjoyable and challenging together. Interrupted by a slow middle section New Waves may be seen as five minutes jazz rock and funk optima forma! New Waves is een bijzondere compositie. Weliswaar eigentijds maar toch aantrekkelijk voor muzikanten en luisteraars. De Noorse componist Aagaard-Nilsen is er op bijzondere wijze in geslaagd nieuwe elementen toe te voegen aan dehedendaagse blaasmuziek. Oorspronkelijke ritmes en spannende contrastrijke samenklanken maken het spelen van dit werk plezierig en uitdagend tegelijk. Onderbroken door een langzaam middendeel kan New Waves beschouwd worden als vijf minuten jazz rock en funk optima forma!

Last Call (?Dernier appel?) est une œuvre pop-funk qui débute avec une fanfare impressionnante suivie immédiatement du premier chorus. Ce dernier introduit une mélodie entraînante qui subit plusieurs transformations à travers le développement de l'œuvre tout en étant soutenue par un rythme funk. Last Call est le bis idéal.

There have been many arrangements of Beatles’ songs for various kinds of ensembles so rather than just producing a further medley of Beatles’ hits Peter Kleine Schaars has added a new twist to them with this excellent new work. All You Need Is Love and With a Little Help from my Friends pass by in a swing march  Michelle sounds like a newly composed ballad and When I’m Sixty Four is played in Dixie swing style. A Hard Day’s Night is transformed into a funk theme with a samba interlude  Let It Be into a slowmarch and Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da in a rock beat.
