Her spiritual arrangements have been commissioned by nationally and internationally recognized professional choral groups and conductors. Vaughan Williams made many settings of texts from Shakespeare throughout his life. This one the Dirge for Fidele was written for two Voices with Piano Accompaniment in 1922 as a stand-alone song. Its text is one ofShakespeare’s many celebrated songs ‘Fear no more the heat o’ the sun’ including the lines ‘Golden lads and girls all must as chimney-sweepers come to dust’ from Cymbeline.Perhaps one of music’s least dirge-like dirges theaccompaniment is soothing and the Vocal lines soaring. It was sung at Sir Laurence Olivier’s funeral at Westminster Abbey in 1989.

Nurse's Songs was originally written as part of a volume entitled Innocence and Experience which takes its texts from Songs of Innocence and of Experience an illustrated collection of poems by William Blake first published in two volumes in 1789 and 1794. The book also includes music by Sally Beamish Charlotte Bray and Anna Meredith with each composer setting one song of innocence and one of experience. William Bartholomew wrote the English lyrics as well as collaborating with the composer on his oratorioElijah.Wings of a Dove the second part of Hear My Prayer is frequently performed as a separate work and was made famous in the UK through a 1927 recording. The work was originally written for SATB Chorus and Organ or Orchestra and is here rendered for two Voices with Piano transposed from G to F to meet the requirements of amateur singers.
