Orchestral Accompaniment Score-This spiritual extended work uses the liturgical Latin text. The four movements bring us on a metaphysical journey from the heavens to earth from the echo of ?The Spheres? (Kyrie) to ?Identity & The Ground? (Sanctus) with its earthly themes. Neither expressly sacred nor secular this is an exquisite work for advanced high school level and beyond. Available separately: SSAATTBB String Orchestra (Full Score and Parts) String Orchestra (Full Score only). Duration: ca. 32:00.

Full Score for John Tavener's Three Hymns Of George Herbert for SATB chorus percussion and strings. Commissioned by the Legatum Institute [www.LI.com] as part of its ?British and American Notions of Liberty?programme in the year of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. First performance on 21st April 2013 in Washington National Cathedral by the City Choir of Washington conducted by Robert Shafer.'The ThreeHymns of George Herbert were written after a long illness and represent for me a Hymn of thanksgiving to God for a relative return to health. They are intended to be sung in a large resonant acoustic with the main choir andstring orchestra at one end of the building and an echo choir and string quartet at the other. The percussion (tubular bells gongs and tam-tams) should sound from a gallery or other raised position. The Hymns wereinspired by the transparent poetry of George Herbert and are dedicated in gratitude and love to the memory of Mother Thekla former Abbess of the Orthodox Monastery of the Assumption Normanby near Whitby who died in 2011.' -John Tavener

Cantata for string orchestra and chorus. Triptych represents the concatenation and re-orchestration of two extant works. Movement I was commissioned with funds from The RVW Trust for the inaugural concert of the Choir of London conducted by Jeremy Summerly in Christ Church, Spitalfields on 18th December, 2004 - the work, premièred as Threnody, was subsequently toured by the Choir to Jerusalem and the West Bank from 19th-26th December, 2004. Movements II and III, commissioned by Portsmouth Grammar School with financial support from the PRS Foundation, were premièred as And There Was a Great Calm in a contiguous version for lower strings and upper voices by the Portsmouth Grammar School Chamber Choir and the London Mozart Players in a concert at Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral on 13th November, 2005 conducted by Nicolae Moldoveanu. The title of this latter section is taken from Thomas Hardy's poem of the same name, written at the signing of the Armistice on 11th November, 1918 - a couplet from which is set, in a moment of tranquillity, in the final movement. Relatively new to living in New York, I am much more aware of the independent, vibrant cultural plurality that exists today - it's probably the single most dazzling facet of the City and is largely responsible for the infamous 'edginess' that pervades daily life there. With this in mind, I set to work on Threnody (movement I here) in 2004 - I wanted to write something that was relevant to the Israeli/Palestinian issue without losing that City 'edge'. The texts, in English, are excerpted from a variety of sources: William Penn, William Blake, the Psalms of David and Muhammad Rajab Al-Bayoumi, an Egyptian poet of the early twentieth-century. Fast and rhythmically influenced by the music of North Africa in its syncopations, this movement was the first composition that evolved entirely from my New York perspective. From the moment that the commission for And There Was a Great Calm (movements II and amp - III here) was offered, I knew the piece I was about to embark upon would end up being linked with Threnody in some way. I realized that what I had been aiming for in Threnody served as a template for this new piece, originally composed for a Remembrance Sunday concert. Musical works connected with commemoration or memorials are often suitably pensive and slow - I wanted to start with that concept, but to bring in some of the relentless urban rhythms that had been such a large influence on my life in the preceding two years. The result is that that the second movement is quiet and gentle (a moment of recollection), while the final movement is much faster and vibrant, returning to a more openly elated rendering of the start of Triptych (the texts here dealing with transmigration and the future). and nbsp - I gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Bruce Ruben and Judith Clurman, as well as that of my parents, with the collation of the texts. Tarik O'Regan New York, February 2006 / Soprano, SATB Et Orchestre De Cordes

(+)
The Vocal Score for Tarik O'Regan's 2004 composition Threnody forms a part of the larger cantata Triptych but works beautifully as a piece in its own right. Lasting around five minutes Threnody was commissioned with funds from The RVW Trust for the Choir of London's inaugural concert in Christ Church Spitalfields on the 18th of December 2004. The work is arranged for SATB Chorus and String Orchestra and this item is the Vocal Score. Taking the lyrics from a diverse range of literary sources including William Blake's Auguries of Innocence William Penn and Psalm133 the solemn beauty of these texts is matched by the dynamism of the vocal performances in conjunction with the staccato rhythms of the orchestra. Crescendos and diminuendos give a sense of urgency and excitement to the vocals the harmonies of which are expertly composed.

It is an example of Scarlatti's most mature style auniquee combination of brilliant vocal and instrumental techniques that he had developed in the cantata and opera with the learned yet unpedantic counterpoint which he had held in such high esteem throughout his life. For SSATB soli and chorus string orchestra and organ continuo. Benjamin Britten: Te Deum In C: SATB: Score

[Sheet music]
Chester
In preparing for publication the 1935 orchestral version of Britten's Te Deum in...
(+)
In preparing for publication the 1935 orchestral version of Britten's Te Deum in C it became clear that there were a number of discrepancies between the manuscript and the original 193 vocal score. Some of these were minor:different articulation and dynamic markings something Britten was later very fussy about but perhaps left unchanged on proof because of his relative inexperience at this stage of his career with the processes of musicpublishing. Others were more important: wrong pedal notes for example which Britten failed to notice on proof and which have been perpetuated in performances and recordings for nearly seventy years. These have been corrected inthe new edition of the vocal score and in the orchestral score (Britten clearly used the published vocal score to prepare his orchestral version). The two versions have been made consistent in other details - rehearsal cues andbar numbers for example - since Britten intended choristers to use the vocal score to perform the orchestral version. This would have been an easy task for these is little discrepancy in essential details between versions (arare departure occurs in bars 53 to 56 where the works 'Lord God of Sabaoth' are unaccompanied in the orchestral version but doubled by Organ in the original). Sustained Organ chords are often filled out with arpeggiated stringwriting while the spacing of chords is frequently much wider in the string version with melodies transposed into different octaves. Although harmony in both versions is identical voice leading is sometimes altered in the latterto make it better suited to the idioms of the instruments concerned. So although in essence the two versions are the same the soundworld explored in each is quite distinct. Britten's orchestral version should neither beviewed as an occasional piece nor considered solely a liturgical work like many of his choral pieces from the 1930s and 1940s it is equally at home in church and concert hall.

Cantata for string orchestra and chorus.Triptych represents the concatenation and re-orchestration of two extant works. Movement I was commissioned with funds from The RVW Trust for the inaugural concert of the Choir of London conducted by Jeremy Summerly in Christ Church Spitalfields on 18th December 2004; the work premièred as Threnody was subsequently toured by the Choir to Jerusalem and the West Bank from 19th-26th December 2004. Movements II and III commissioned by Portsmouth Grammar School with financial support from the PRS Foundation were premièred as And There Was a Great Calm in a contiguous version for lower strings and upper voices by thePortsmouth Grammar School Chamber Choir and the London Mozart Players in a concert at Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral on 13th November 2005 conducted by Nicolae Moldoveanu. The title of this latter section is taken from Thomas Hardy’s poem of the same name written at the signing of the Armistice on 11th November 1918; a couplet from which is set in a moment of tranquillity in the final movement.Relatively new to living in New York I am much more aware of the independent vibrant cultural plurality that exists today; it’s probably the single most dazzling facet of the City and is largely responsible for the infamous ‘edginess’ that pervades daily life there. With this in mind I set to work on Threnody (movement I here) in 2004; I wanted to write something that was relevant to the Israeli/Palestinian issue without losing that City ‘edge’. The texts in English are excerpted from a variety of sources: William Penn William Blake the Psalms of David and Muhammad Rajab Al-Bayoumi an Egyptian poet of the early twentieth-century. Fast and rhythmically influenced by the music of North Africa in its syncopations this movement was the first composition that evolved entirely from my New York perspective. From the moment that the commission for And There Was a Great Calm (movements II & III here) was offered I knew the piece I was

Thanks to its transparent texture and its many beautiful melodies which seem to be token the composer?s highly personal relation to death the Requiem is perhaps Fauré?s most popular work. The musical structure of this frequently heard piece makes it virtually ideal for performance with organ accompaniment. This arrangement takes into account all three of the composer?s surviving versions: the early version with string orchestra as well as the two later versions with added winds and with symphony orchestra.Standard work from concert repertoireEasy-to-play organ arrangementImpressive timbral adaptation for organThe Bärenreiter Choir &Organ Series presents great choral works in arrangements for soloists choir and organ; no orchestra is needed. The original orchestral parts have been transcribed into easy-to-play organ reductions whereby the contemporary tradition of such arrangements has been taken into consideration. In some cases the original organ versions by the composer were used. The organ parts are presented on three staves. The choir and solo parts always remain true to the original. You need only one edition for soloists singers and organist alike.

Tarik O'Regan's Martyr was commissioned by St Albans Chamber Choir in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of their founding. It was premiered by the St Albans Chamber Choir and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in St Albans Abbey on 24 January 2009 under the direction of John Gibbons. Martyr was written as a counterpart to Haydn's Missa in Angustiis ('Nelson' Mass) using the same orchestration as Haydn's original version. In venues where an organ is present the optional organ part should always be used. The four SATB solo parts should be performed by a group of singers placed to the side or to the front of the orchestra awayfrom the main chorus. Although written with individual 'professional' solo voices in mind the solo parts may also be performed by a semi-chorus with for example two or three voices to a part. Two SATB arrangements of Pieds En L'Air from Warlock's Capriol the first being a slumersome lullaby and the second an optimistic springtime song.Tomlinson's first arrangement Hush My Child was intended to take advantage of Warlock's sumptuous harmonies in the original string orchestra version of Pieds En L'Air but with voices. This setting was then shown to John Bishop who responded by creating the text Welcome The Spring to provide a more optimistic and forward-looking interpretation of the same piece. Both versions are featured in this edition leaving the choice to the singers and choral leaders themselves!

Britten's Jubilate is written for SATB choir and Organ accompaniment.Benjamin Britten's birthday (22nd November 1913 Lowestoft) falls on St. Cecilia's Day a happy augury for the career of one of Britain's greatestcomposers. Essentially a vocal composer Britten won international fame for his operas and song-cycles. He never abandoned the principles of tonality and was a 'modern' composer who reached a mass audience and a conservative whoseoriginality no radical would sensibly deny. He shared with his predecessors Parry Vaughan Williams and Holst an intense interest in works for amateurs and children. His brilliant gifts as a pianist and conductor coupled withhis virtuosic inventiveness also led him to compose music for great performers such as the cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and the singers Galina Vishnevskaya Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Janet Baker. The greatestpersonal influence on his music was the Tenor Peter Pears for whom he composed many operatic and vocal roles. In 1948 Britten Pears and Eric Crozier founded the Aldeburgh Festival now one of the most respected established fornew English music. In 1952 he was made a Companion of Honour in 1965 received the Order of Merit and in 1976 the year of his death he became the first composer to receive a life peerage.Oxford University Press wasBritten's first publisher. In the early 1930s A Boy Was Born and the Simple Symphony brought him great critical acclaim and launched his compositional career. Oxford is delighted to present some previouslyunpublished pieces in collaboration with the Britten Estate. These include the Double Concerto for Violin and Viola premiered at Snape by the Britten-Pears Orchestra under Kent Nagano in June 1997; Two Portraits forString Orchestra premiered on BBC Radio 3 in December 1995 by the Northern Sinfonia under Martyn Brabbins; The World Of The Spirit the full version first performed in 1938 on the BBC Home Service the abridged

With likely origins in the southern China provinces, the soothing pentatonic melody of this traditional folk song is reminiscent of the simple beauty of a white jasmine blossom. This lovely choral setting, layered with independent voice lines, is effective with the shimmering piano accompaniment or the optional string orchestra parts. / Choeur Mixte (SATB)
