In Der St. Georgenkirche Rötha. Par SZATHMARY ZSIGMOND. The composition 'Silberklänge” was commissioned for the 2020 International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig. The composer noted: 'During my first visit to the Georgenkirche in Rötha, I was impressed by the immensely vibrant and noble sounds of the historic Silbermann organ (1721), the endless variety of possible timbre combinations, the stellar acoustics of the church, and the historic atmosphere, which shaped and tamed my musical thoughts, transporting me into my very own 'baroque' world.” This edition contains registration marks that reflect the soundscape the composer intended to achieve with this particular organ. Par RINCK JOHANN CHRISTIAN HEINRICH. Rinck’s organ works were oriented toward the needs of the church music of this time, when short and relatively simple pieces were required. This genre of music is exemplified by the Chorale Preludes op. 105, most of which occupy only one printed page, and which are reminiscent of Bach’s Orgelbüchlein. In 1991 an astonishing discovery was published by Zoltán Göncz answering the question with fairly great certainty how Bach planned the appearance of the fourth subject, the main subject of the cycle: One of the striking features of Contrapunctus 14 is that in this movement Bach applied the stretto of whole expositions. In the exposition of the first three subjects he “programmed” the later permutational stretti, then applied the expositions as “programs”, “algorithms”. However paradoxical, it follows from the logic of composing a quadruple fugue that the combinations joining all four subjects and rendered the latest when performing the work were already completed in the very firststage of composition because the possibility of overlapping the four subjects [1+2+3+4] is the sine qua non of writing a quadruple fugue. The discovery of the permutational matrix was one of the most essential conditions to achieve that the reconstruction of Contrapunctus XIV could come near to the original form planned by Bach./ Répertoire / Orgue
