Regarded as the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century Manuel De Falla (1876-1946) had a distinctively nationalistic style. His Andalusian influences are clearly seen in his ballet El AmorBrujo which is often praised for its originality while at the same time preserving the beauty of the Andalusian folk themes. The libretto was written by Gregorio Mart nez Sierra and the ballet was firstpublished in 1915. The composer issued several revisions during his lifetime but his original work is given here. The Voice part has been paired with a Piano reduction making it ideal for rehearsal accompaniment private study or recital performance.

In his poetry Idiscovered the essential element I needed to bind the cycle together: the eternal backdrop of nature upon which the poet's thoughts are played out.It would have been quite easy to conclude the set with another poem by Ivor Gurney. However it was to Leonard Clark I turned. Langgaard was an eminent musical talent but with his romantic and symbolist view of art he ended up as an outsider in an era when the trend-setting musical life of the time was permeated by Carl Nielsen's sober and modern attitude. Rued Langgaard's production within the lied genrecomprises 125 songs. Half of them were composed in the short span of years between 1914 and 1918 when the composer was in his early twenties. With this publication in three volumes Langgaard's important and personal contribution to the genre is presented in its entire range. Only 27 of the songs have previously been published. The songs are set to German Danish and Norwegian poems. The poems in Danish and Norwegian are included in an English translation (though not designed for performance purposes).
