(+)
Handel?s four anthems were all composed during his London period in the Chapel Royal. ?As pants the hart? his fifth setting of this Psalm text was written in March 1738 for performance at a benefit concert for the King?s Theatre in the Haymarket. Until just before Handel?s first visit to England the only instrument permitted to accompany the service in the Chapel Royal was the Organ. These four works (O sing unto the Lord HWV 249a I will magnify thee HWV 250b As pants the hart HWV 251e Let God arise HWV 256b) with their orchestral accompaniments thus represent something akin to a new genre in English church music. The four anthems arepresented in clearly laid out Vocal scores with easy-to-play Piano reductions based on the Urtext from the ?Halle Handel Edition?. Their winningly varied and self-sufficient orchestral writing provides a suitable framework for the festive chorus and the equally festive solo numbers. Today they sound as splendid as ever before. The full scores and Vocal scores also contain a German translation along with the original English.Scoring:- HWV 249a: soloists (AB) chorus (SATB) Flute 2 Oboes 2 Trumpets Strings Continuo.- HWV 250b: soloists (SATB) chorus (SATB) Oboe Strings Continuo.- HWV 251e: soloists (SAATBB) chorus (SAATBB) 2 Oboes Strings Continuo.- HWV 256b: soloists (AB) chorus (SATB) Oboe Strings Continuo.- Urtext from the ?Halle Handel Edition? at the forefront of musical scholarship.- First separate editions for performance purposes.- Clear and easy-to-play Piano reductions.- Original English text with underlaid German translation.- Full scores vocal scores and performance material available for sale.

Today the Gloria RV 589 (BA 7674) is one of Vivaldi?s best-known compositions and one of the most frequently performed sacred vocal works from the Baroque period.Vivaldi wrote the ?Gloria? as a self-contained work in the style of a concertante mass. However it was probably also performed within church services. The scoring of the solo voices (SSA) suggests that the work was written during his period at the Ospedale della Piet around 1716. In the twelve movements of the ?Gloria? Vivaldi displays the whole range of his mastery from festive sublime outer movements to tender transparently scored solopassages. The same mastery has also been applied to the ? Kyrie? RV 587 (BA 8950) scored for two choirs and two groups of stringed instruments. The date of its composition remains unclear. It is a purely a choral work without solo passages. Both works can be performed independently but can also be combined as a kind of short mass. Although the authenticity of the autograph manuscript score is beyond doubt these new editions contain some re-evaluations in phrasing and performance practice which go beyond what other editions have to offer. The Piano reductions are straightforward clearly presented and preserve the character of the works.- Attractive choral pieces which can be combined to form a short mass.- Vocal score as well as choral score available for the ?Gloria?.- Informative foreword (Ger/Eng).

(+)
Pergolesi’s famous Stabat mater a work for two soloists strings and continuo quickly became a success throughout Europe. However there are numerous indications that it was also performed by choirs from very early on. Particular movements were very probably sung by a two-part choir whilst the arias were kept for the soloists. In this edition the outer movements and no. 8 are now scored for three-part choir (Sop MezSop Alto) in contrast to the solo aria movements. Three further movements are set as trios for three solo voices. The added parts are derived from the existing musical material. These lend this well-known work a completely new charmand provide a welcome addition to the repertoire for choral concerts. For performance material use original edition BA7679. Arrangement for female choir (Sop MezSop Alto) based on the Bärenreiter Urtext edition of the original work Clear straightforward piano reduction The arranger Malcolm Bruno is the editor of the Urtext edition of the Stabat Mater (BA 7679) and a renowned expert in 18th century Italian music.

The material for Mozart’s azione sacra is taken from the Old Testament book of Judith the story of the beautiful Israelite who steals into the enemy camp of the Assyrians and decapitates their sleeping commander Holofernes.Often called a stroke of genius by the fifteen-year-old Mozart Betulia Liberata brooks comparison with his early operas in every respect. But Mozart was evidently concerned to distinguish between an azione sacra and an azione teatrale in the music itself e.g. in the accompanied recitatives and the sacred aura of the final chorus. Performance material available for hire.First vocal scoreof Mozart’s Betulia Liberata.Easy to play Piano reduction.Clear and uncluttered appearance on the page.Original Italian words underlaid with a new German translation.Bilingual preface in German and English.

(+)
Serenade in three parts-Handel set the myth about the love of the shepherd Acis for the sea nymph Galatea from Ovid’s Metamorphoses a total of three times: in the cantata Aci Galatea e Polifemo HWV 72 (1708) the masque Acis and Galatea HWV 49a (1718) and finally the pasticcio-like serenata Acis and Galatea HWV 49b (1732) of which the original version is now made available in its complete form for the first time.A particular charm is provided by the use of two languages in the serenata. The work was originally conceived in English as was required for the first performance. However Handel’s Italian singers were criticised for their poor command of English so in the end many numbers were sung in Italian. The extensive appendix to the vocal score includes the additional arias and newly composed movements for the versions used in the 1734 and 1736 performances. Performance material available for hireUrtext edition based on the Halle Handel EditionEnglish and Italian original text with singable German translation Extensive foreword in two languages (Ger/Eng)Clear straightforward piano reduction

(+)
During Handel’s lifetime Giulio Cesare in Egitto was among his most successful operas. Today it is still one of the most frequently performed owing to the rich variety of its scenes and its remarkably inventive arias and ensembles which embellish the underlying affects with virtuoso aplomb. The Piano writing contains the musical numbers from the main version and observes the editorial decisions in Zschoch’s volume thereby making it possible to prepare authentic performances of what is perhaps Handel’s most popular opera. Vocal score of the main version based on the Urtext from the “Halle HandelEdition”. Clear easy-to-play Piano reduction. Italian text underlaid with newly revised singable German translation. German/English preface with information on performance history and editorial principles. Performance material (BA4078-72) available for hire.

Ode for St. Cecilia's Day-Alexander's Feast or The Power of Musick HWV 75Ode for St. Cecilia's DayIn 1736 Handel composed ?Alexander?s Feast? or ?The Power of Musick? a two-part cantata based on John Dryden?s poem of the same name. Now in a revised edition. (+)
Par BRUCKNER ANTON. Anton Bruckner's Te Deum - a high point in the composer's output and one of the most important works of the sacred choral repertoire in the 19th century - is now available in a modern, scholarly edition. The Carus edition draws on both the two sources regarded as important, the autograph score and the first printed edition, with careful consideration given to variant readings. And so a music text has been prepared which reflects the composer's intentions as closely as possible. Great emphasis has been placed on a clear-to-read layout of the full score pages, as well as excellent legibility for the parts, which are available on sale. With current performance practice in mind, the clarinet parts are notated in B flat instead of A, corresponding with the first printed edition. The vocal score has been newly prepared to reflect current practical requirements. As an economical alternative, a chorus score is available. Bruckner's Te Deum is also available in carus music, the choir app. The app contains the music and a recording, as well as a coach to help with learning each choral part. In preparation: arrangement of the Te Deum for soli, choir, brass quintet and organ./ Répertoire / Choeur Mixte (SATB) et Piano

These four works with their orchestral accompaniments thus represent something akin to a new genre in English church music. The four anthems are presented in clearly laid out vocal scores with straightforward piano reductions based on the Urtext from the Halle Handel Edition. Their enticingly varied and self-sufficient orchestral writing provides a suitable framework for the festive chorus and equally festive solo numbers. Today they sound as splendid as ever! The full scores and vocal scores also contain a German translation along with the original English text.

Charpentier composed ?In Nativitatem Domini Canticum? during his period as maître de musique at the church of St Louis in Paris (around 1690). It is in the tradition of the oratorios of Carissimi and his contemporaries but is more easily described as a ?Grand Motet? or ?Histoire sacrée? a genre in which Charpentier excelled. The work was probably intended for performance during mass on Christmas Day and thus had a liturgical function as was customary during the period of Louis XIV in Paris. The text presents the Christmas story in three sections: the chorus of the faithful the actual story of the birth of Jesus and the adoration ofthe shepherds in the fields. The music reveals a subtle mixture of French and Italian styles with dramatic elements. For the first time this work prepared by the acknowledged Charpentier expert Joel Schwindt is presented in a scholarly-critical edition where all sources have been consulted.A detailed foreword and critical commentary provide detailed information which fulfil all the criteria of an Urtext edition.- First Urtext edition of this work.- An important addition to the repertoire for Christmas.- Straightforward clear Piano reduction.- Foreword (Ger/Eng) and critical commentary (Eng).- Full score performance material (BA7673) & Vocal score (BA7673-90) available for sale.

(+)
Handel wrote the famous Dixit Dominus with the text of Psalm 109 during his time in Italy in c. 1707. Although he was only 22 years old the work already demonstrates his wide spectrum of compositional abilities which are later fully realized in his operas and oratorios. Central to this work are the six choral movements which with their polyphonic structure are closely related to German choral music of the 17th century. The first Urtext edition BA 4002 based on the Halle Handel Edition was published in 1960. At that time no critical commentary was published so that in cases of doubt the basis on which editorialdecisions were made was not officially recorded. A new complete edition volume (BA 10704/01) due to be published in 2013 will include a detailed foreword providing information on the genesis and the first performance of this work as well as information on the psalm on which this work is based and on performance practice. In addition several facsimiles pages will be included giving a view into the source material. The critical commentary will provide a detailed insight into all the available sources and how they have been passed down. This newly revised Urtext performing edition offers a thorough revision of this frequently-performed work and meets all the requisites of a scholarly-critical edition. Former readings in the old edition regarding a small number of pitches but mostly basso continuo figures and the underlying text have now been able to be amended on the basis of the new findings. In the new edition the work appears in nine movements no longer eight which reflects the composer's intentions. The new performance material is not compatible with the old one.Presented in a revised Urtext editionClear straightforward Piano reduction in the vocal scoreUrtext of the Halle Handel EditionFull score performance material (BA10704) & Vocal score (BA10704-90) available for sale
