This version of Cortege and Litanie by Marcel Dupré was written for organ. For upper intermediate players, this 8 page composition is written with 4 sharps and includes the use of the pedals. The piece, initially written for a small orchestra in 1922, was created for a play. Dupré integrated it into one of his piano recitals and was later asked to arrange it for other instruments. These scores therefore exist also arranged for piano, orchestra (in 4 and 16) and for the conductor. In terms of composition, the piece is divided into two: “Cortege,” which title describes a solemn procession, begins in E major and lasts twice as long as the introductory theme; and “Litanie,” which is describing the prayer sung during a procession and which follows the “Cortege” part to then be joined by it. Marcel Dupré is a French composer and virtuoso organist who won the Prix de Rome in 1914. He became famous when he played the work of Bach in its totality from memory in 1920. He later became the professor of many renowned students at the Paris Conservatoire such as Messiaen, Langlais and Cochereau among others.

Its bears the subtitle Lament on the Loss of Musical Thought - some Madrigals for Solo Flute or Flute with any other Instruments. This serves as a playing instruction but doubles at the same time as an outmoded programme: it refers back to the musical origin of the opening lamenting motif, a tradition which was once of its time but is not of our time - namely the Lamento genre which gave the title to the Chaconne in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. Almost simultaneously I wrote a second version for Piano (for Piano one-and-a-half hands), which already formulates possible approaches for the performer, in some detail, to the indicated, quasi-canonic version of the piece in the programme. The multiple version Ein Hauch von Unzeit III realizes a concrete version of a formal state which floats between strict canon and aleatoric principles: each of the musicians who are spread throughout the hall introduces their own idiomatic translation of the flute part. And so the music exists, omnipresent, not only spatially throughout the hall, but also formally in a sort of fluctuating simultaneity. For that reason, it was my express wish to any potential interpreter that they should construct entirely their own version of the piece. A healthy number of musicians have responded to my suggestion - versions of the piece have now been made for guitar (Cornelius Schwehr, Gunther Schneider), accordion (Hugo Noth), double bass (Fernando Grillo), violin (Hansheinz Schneeberger), viola, violoncello, and double bass (trio basso, Koln), violoncello (Michael Bach), trombone (Andrew Digby) and, created by myself, a sung version for voice (to words by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel und Max Bense), and for viola. The most important requirement for the whole piece is absolute stillness, which should as far as possible emanate from the performer. The pauses are occasionally in this respect the most important element. These may, if one can find the necessary stillness, become very long.Ein Hauch von Unzeit (A Breath of the Untimely) - time almost dissolves!(Klaus Huber, 1989/2014 - translation: David Alberman)CD:Jean-Luc Menet (Bass flute)CD Traversieres 120.270Jean-Luc Menet (fl)CD STR 37039Bibliography:Zimmermann, Heidy: Zeitgestaltung im Kompositionsprozess bei Klaus Huber - dargestellt anhand von Skizzen, in: Mnemosyne. This first volume of Twelve Pieces by Gaston Litaize is a set of six pieces for organ. With a difficulty that would fit the skills of upper intermediate players, these pieces require the use of pedals. This first tome includes: 1. Prelude, dedicated to Lauret Bolli, his friend 2. Double Fugue 3. Lied, dedicated to Guy Lambert 4. Intermezzo Pastoral, dedicated to Miss Line Zilgien 5. Final, dedicated to his professor Marcel Dupre 6. Lamento, dedicated to his friend Maurice Dalphin. And the second tome consists of: 7. Scherzo 8. Toccata sur le veni creator 9. Priere 10. Jeux de rythmes 11. Interlude 12. Variations sur un Noel angevin. This piece is quite famous among Gaston Litaize's compositions. Gaston Litaize (1909-1991) was a French organist and composer, blind since his youth. Considered as one of the organ masters of his times, he toured and worked on many recordings. He was also a good professor, and composed many pieces for solo organ and for organ with other instruments.

The oldest extant organ music manuscripts in Transylvania date from the end of the 17th century and are attributableto Daniel Croner. During his student years, Croner compiled two organ tablature books, one in Breslau in 1681, theother in Wittenberg in 1682, a third, supposedly compiled in Kronstadt in 1675 and a fourth book, dating from 1685. The manuscripts are in good condition. They are written inGerman organ tablature and contain works by Croner as weil as by other contemporaries.

The spotlight is not on Brahms, Reger and Karg-Elert, but on the romantic organ composers Otto Dienel, Theophil Forchhammer, Max Gulbins, Otto Heinermann, Karl Hoyer, Wilhelm Kienzl, Emil Magnus, Karl Piutti and many others whose works have recently begun to attract greater attention. The idea of romanticism is extended into the 20th century by the inclusion of certain other composers as well. hier preisen auf der Erd illustrates a particularly fruitful period in the history of organ music while also expanding the four-volume collection in Ewigkeit dich loben, which was unable to take certain interesting rediscoveries into account at the time of compilation.hier preisen auf der Erd offers a selection of some of the multi-faceted and highly original forms found among the chorale prelude of the romantic era. The Concerto for organ, strings and percussion by Kay Johannsen, Kantor of the Stiftskirche in Stuttgart, is a valuable addition to the repertoire for organ and orchestra. It is a work composed to appeal to both performer and audience alike - with thrilling rhythmic sections as well as moments of great intimacy. The organ part, for a three manual instrument if possible, is shown to its best advantage in many and varied tonal colors, ranging from the most delicate solo registrations to powerful forte. The organ writing is demanding, but well within the capabilities of experienced organists. Precise registration suggestions are contained in the score. The string orchestra (minimum 4/4/3/3/1) is scored with sophistication, with solos for all instruments. The percussion is for two players - a part for timpani and one for other, readily available percussion instruments. By avoiding the use of wind and brass instruments, the work can also be performed where the tuning of the organ is not ideally suited to modern orchestral pitch. Score and part available separately - see item CA.1808500.

,,Bach spielen auf der Orgel (Playing Bach on the Organ) - the eagerly anticipated and logical addition to the new ten-volume edition of Bach's organ works - addresses organists of various skills and interests. It is not a scientific textbook focusing on a comprehensive presentation of the sources; it rather aims to make the fascinating cosmos of Bach's organ compositions accessible and ignite the passion, which is essential for an inspired interpretation. In his capacity as both a concert organist and a Bach researcher, Jean-Claude Zehnder is, like no other, apt to give the reader an understanding of the diverse aspects of playing Bach in a scientifically founded and yet vivid and exciting way. From Bach's organs and questions with regard to the registration practice of his time, via performance-technical aspects to thoughts on text reference, proportions and symbolism, no important subject has been left out. Questions of interpretation are discussed by reference to selected works and round off the compact presentation. A bibliography allows further own research.

During the intensive study of Johann Sebastian Bach's Musical Offering for the creation of a commissioned composition for wind trio, I had the idea of writing a larger organ work on the Royal Theme at the same time. This is how the Three Ricercare came into being. They are multi-part fantasies for organ, which - connected by the frequently transformed thematic material of the Musical Offering and the manifoldly reshaped B-A-C-H motif - alternate between free, rapsodic parts on the one hand and strictly structured parts on the other. For my 60th birthday, W. E. v. Lewinski wrote an appreciation under the title: Music in the span between constraint and freedom. This formulation aptly characterizes the new organ work. The now-published volumes 9 and 10 have presented a special challenge, for particularly in the field of the chorale arrangements the transmissions are more complex than in any other group of works. This ties in with the crucial question of Bach's authorship, which has been the subject of much controversy in the past. There were heated discussions about it even just prior to our edition, and editors and publisher are aware that the present selection is a thoroughly debatable snapshot. More on this in the volumes' text sections. The so called ,,Neumeister-Chorale are incorporated in the group of the separately transmitted chorale settings in alphabetical order, because the compilation of the pieces does not follow any collection idea of Bach (such as, for example, his larger late collections). The indication ,,Neumeister-Sammlung should facilitate the attribution. Those works requiring further research, besides of some versions, are presented online, since their profile reveals less evidence of the true author. Breitkopf has given the world a splendid edition of the organ works of Bach. These final two volumes offer a wealth of chorale-based music benefiting from the very latest research. Aside from the edition's obvious scholarly merit, a practicing church organist will love the convenience and variety of these volumes. Recommended without hesitation.(Jonathan B. Hall, The American Organist).

Johann Samuel Beyer (1669-1744) assumed the position of Kantor at St. Mary's Cathedral in Freiberg (Saxony) in 1699. Between 1716 and 1719 his Musicalische Vorrath (Musical source), a comprehensive collection of two-part chorale variations for organ or other keyboard instruments was published. The selection in the present volume offers an attractive enrichment for organists of liturgical repertoire for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. An optional figured bass realization for the bass line has been added in small print. Clearly, practiced organists can shape and elaborate these pieces by means of improvisation.

The Requiem of Gabriel Faure is now available in two versions: in the symphonic version which was completed in 1900 and in a version with small orchestra of 1889. The symphonic version of Gabriel Faure's Requiem, published in 1901, was the product of a 13-year compositional process. Starting from the original five-movement form for strings, harp and organ, the composer wrote two additional movements, one after the other, and expanded the instrumentation in various stages for later performances. The present reconstruction of a version with small orchestra differs from other such attempts in that for the first time it presents the work not in a mixed version, but rather in the unified form from 1889. This is distinguished from the final version both in musical terms, as well as through the fact that it forgoes the use of flutes, clarinets and bassoons, while employing only two horns instead of four. With a critical Report with information about the source situation and the edition, and containing the individual readings (alternative readings, etc.). Since in 1889 the Offertoire was still without the choral section the present edition contains the Offertoire of the final version as appendix. Now available in carus music, the choir app. Score and part available separately - see item CA.2731100.

Triptych in honorem Gustav Willscher (2017) is dedicated to Andreas Willscher in celebration of the writing of his Troppauer Musiklexicon. Gustav Willscher (born 1882 in Meltsch bei Troppau/Sudentenschleisen and died 1937 in Vienna) was in his time a very successful poet, writer, and composer. In addition to his musical talents (he played several instruments, among others the piano and guitar), he also created a collection of drawings. He was the grandfather of composer and organist Andreas Willscher. The outer movements, Silesian Prelude and Troppauer Postlude, refer to his cultural heritage, and each quote a musical theme by Gustav Willscher. The second movement, Minuet, refers obliquely to Vienna, the city in which Willscher died. Instrumentation: Organ Duration: 10' Composed: 2017 Published by: Zimbel Press.
