Three short choral settings of peoms by George Herbert commissioned by The Spitalfields Festival in memory of Peter Lerwill a generous supporter of the festival. The first performance of the set took place in June 2005 at ChristChurch Spitalfields by The Cardinall's Musick with Andrew Carwood. The textures of Weir's settings range from the clarity of the Madrigal and Hymn to more complex writing with the choir splitting into as many as eight parts.

Matthew Martin's setting of Adam Lay Ybounden was first performed by the Choir of Westminster Cathedral at St. George's Hanover Sqaure London on December 19th 2006.  You can purchase the sheet music arranged for Mixed Voices and Piano Accompaniment released as part of the Faber Choral Signature Series.  Matthew Martin was educated at Magdalen College Oxford and at the Royal Academy of Music London. He subsequently held positions at New College Oxford and Canterbury Cathedral before moving to Westminster Cathedral as Assistant Master of Music in 2004. He is an active composer organ recitalist improviser and conductor. Recent commissions have come from The Cardinall's Musick Westminster Abbey Westminster Cathedral and St. Paul's Cathedral. 

Written for the annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at Westminster Cathedral in December 2015 L’Estrange has delivered another enjoyable but challenging addition to the Christmas carol repertoire. The Souls Of The Righteous was composed for a close friend of David Bednall's Tom Williams who was at that time Director of the Bristol University Madrigal Ensemble. It was written immediately following the death of his grandfather George Ryall and received its first performance in St Matriana Tintagel on the Madrigal Ensemble’s tour of Cornwall in 2008. The Latin version of this text is better known but it has a direct beauty in its English form. The feeling throughout and particularly in the outer sections should be one of warm luminescence. This piece is from the Choral Signature Series whichintroduces a wealth of new or recently written choral music to choirs in search of fresh repertoire. The series draws in a rich diversity of living composers and includes both lighter and more challenging contemporary works offering a thrilling array of varied styles.

Originally recorded by Nina Simone on her 1965 album I Put A Spell On You Feeling Good instantly became a standard and has since been recorded by many artists including Muse Michael Buble Sammy Davis Junior George Michael and The Pussycat Dolls.The song was originally composed by Anthony Newlie and Leslie Bricusse for a 1964 musical sung by Gilbert Price. After the inimitable Nina Simone recorded an incredible version for her album a huge number of cover versions followed with Muse's attempt being voted the greatest cover of all time by the NME.
