It wasn’t until 1957 that the restored work was heard again in its entirety. Unlike the works Karol Szymanowski composed during the first two decades of the 20th century his Stabat Mater could only have been written in a country with Slavic culture. The melodies consist of minor and major seconds and thirds and the pace of most movements is slow; only the second movement has a rhythm and melody that seem to pre-empt Orff’s Carmina Burana. Love me sweet was composed for the occasion of the composer's wedding in July 2010. The text consists of four verses taken from Elizabeth Barrett Browning's ironic poem A Man's Requirements which ends with the couplet, 'I will love thee - half a year - As a man is able.'
