Written by John Barry, Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, it became the definitive in-your-face Bond song before the series' theme tunes became quieter and more pop-oriented. Ma collection de laude a ses origines dans le monde de la musique ancienne, est basé dans l'esprit et le sentiment de la non accompagné vocal 'laude' trouvé dans une collection de Cortona 13ème siècle. Les personnes qui ont chanté à l'origine de telles choses - la 'laudesi' - se sont regroupés en confréries, mais ne sont généralement pas associés à une église particulière et cette musique ne faisait pas partie de toute liturgie. La première fois que je laude écrit étaient, comme les originaux du Moyen Age, pour voix non accompagnés - pour la soprano Anna Maria Friman. J'ai ensuite écrit une à deux voix, en ajoutant le ténor John Potter, et d'autres pour trois sopranos, le Trio Mediaeval. Peu à peu, j'ai ajouté plus pour d'autres combinaisons vocales ainsi que certaines avec accompagnement instrumental. Mais je reviens de temps en temps à la plus 'pure' en solo ou en duo lauda. En 2006, j'ai écrit un certain nombre de pièces pour choeur d'hommes estoniens nationale (RAM) principalement grâce à mon amitié et la collaboration avec Kaspars conducteurs ses Putnins qui, ainsi que la conduite de l'Choeur de la Radio lettone, était le directeur de RAM. J'ai écrit deux laude pour eux. Lauda 31 était tout à fait nouveau, tandis que Lauda 32 est une nouvelle version de Lauda 19 'homo Omne'. Tant tirer pleinement parti de la qualité particulière du choeur estonien et Lauda 32 en particulier vise délibérément à avoir le son de chanteurs dans une tradition orthodoxe russe. Quelle que soit l'approche vocale je utiliser pour mettre les textes Lauda, je les traite avec beaucoup de respect par rapport à l'original lauda. Je conformer autant que possible au même nombre de notes à une syllabe qui se trouvent dans les versions médiévales, souvent en suivant les contours mélodiques et parfois citant des phrases individuelles. J'ai encore savourer le défi d'écrire la musique vocale qui est très exposée, et qui conserve quelque chose de l'austérité de l'original. Gavin Bryars (2012) / Choeur D'Hommes
