Victor Caussinus wrote two versions of Air varié, a concertante piece for ophicleide and orchestra: one for an instrument in C and symphonic orchestra, the other one for an instrument in B b and concert band. The piece belongs to the theme and variation genre. After an andante Introduction in minor, the theme is stated and followed by three variations and a Polacca. After a brief return of the Andante, the piece ends with a virtuoso Finale.The arrangement for euphonium or saxhorn and piano is adapted from the original manuscript of the concert band version, the instrumentation of which calls for: '1 piccolo in D b, 1 soprano clarinet in E b, 4 clarinets in B b (including one solo), 2 bassoons, 2 cornets in A b, 2 horns in E b, 2 horns in B b, 2 trumpets in E b, 3 trombones, 1 ophicleide in B b?. / Tuba Et Piano

For over ten years he has been writing works in a wide variety of genres for the „BlechReiz BrassQuintett“ ensemble, in which he himself plays trumpet and piano. His field of expertise ranges from classical pieces to jazz and meditative music—and even to pop-oriented compositions. While honing his skills in ear-training and composition at the Mozarteum, Salzburg, Nico became acquainted with a wide repertoire of works as a trumpet player with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bavarian State Opera, all of which have influenced his writing style. The driving force behind his creative work is a winning combination of passion, the fun of music-making and a desire to express, through the medium of music, feelings that are difficult to put into words. Like many of his works, Nico composed The Joy of Freedom for the „BlechReiz BrassQuintet“. for Euphonium & Piano. Par VAN LOOY GLENN. Glenn Van Looy, né à Bonheiden, en Belgique, est un exceptionnel joueur d'euphonium du 21e siècle. Son parcours musical a commencé tôt sous la tutelle de son père, un tromboniste basse. Il a étudié dans des institutions renommées telles que l'École secondaire d'art d'Anvers et l'Institut Lemmens à Louvain. Van Looy excelle à la fois en tant que soliste et musicien d'ensemble, et il était déjà membre de prestigieuses brass bands dès son jeune âge. Sa carrière en solo a été célébrée avec de nombreuses récompenses lors de concours internationaux à travers l'Europe et au-delà. Pourtant, ses réalisations vont au-delà des compétitions ; il a également collaboré en tant que soliste de concert très recherché avec des orchestres estimés tels que l'Orchestre philharmonique de Bruxelles et la Fanfare européenne de la jeunesse. Les réalisations remarquables de Glenn Van Looy lui ont valu des titres prestigieux, dont la victoire au Ern Keller Memorial à Sydney, en Australie, en tant que Soliste international de l'année.
