French composer Henri Büsser entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1889. He won the 1893 Prix de Rome and led a highly successful career as a composer conductor teacher and organist. His compositions for a variety of instruments are exceptional Andalucia for Flute and Piano being no exception. As reflected in Andalucia which is named after the popular Spanish area of the same name Büsser's compositional style was sophisticated yet true to the 19th century French tradition. Elements of Andalucia include chromaticism exploitation of tonality complex rhythms and semiquaverflourishes amongst other aspects. For all advanced Flute players Büsser's Andalucia is essential to a varied repertoire.

for Flute and Harpsichord obbligato (Piano)-The B Minor Suite has a special place among the four extant Orchestral suites by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1066-1069) for two reasons: it is the only suite that calls for only one wind instrument and the only one with extensive solo passages for one instrument. Since moreover it is essentially Bach's only composition for solo Flute with Orchestra it enjoys great favour among flutists.A proper string ensemble is not always at one's disposal. Therefore an arrangement {or Flute and Obbligato Harpsichord has been prepared similar to one Bach himself might have written. The aim here has been to do nothing thatBach himself would not have done yet to refrain from doing everything of which he was capable.

Giulio Briccialdi (1818-1881) was born in Terni Italy in the Papal States and studied flute with his father until the age of 14. Following the passing of his father Briccialdi moved to Rome where he studied composition and was appointed to the Accademia di Santa Cecilia as flute teacher. He would ultimately go on to teach flute to Italian royalty including the king's brother. He also toured as a performer throughout Europe and America and finally settled in London becoming a director of the flutemaking firm Rudall and Rose. During this time he was responsible for several mechanical developments which are still in use today notably the B-flat lever. Outside ofBriccialdi's important contributions to flute instrument making this virtuoso arrangement of the popular theme would become one of his most enduring legacies. Two Miniatures For Flute And Piano is a pair of short pieces from the late classical period carefully arranged as performance solos for the Flute with Piano. Beethovenâ??s Sonata In B Flat wascomposed ca. 1790 and is one of the very few pieces that he wrote for the Flute. The Rondo In E Minor was written in 1810 by Mozartâ??s youngest son Franz Xaver Wolfgang who often struggled to gain recognition on his ownmerits during his lifetime. Two Miniatures has been arranged by Louis Moyse (1912-2007) a noted French flautist pianist composer music editor and pedagogue. Raised in Paris he was educatedby his father Marcel also a famous flautist but spent most of his working life in North America.
