Par KIDD BRYAN. This is one to get excited about! In the style of a “patrol” march, THE ROAD TO CHANCELLORSVILLE takes us back to that pivotal point in history, the American Civil War. The Battle of Chancellorsville is regarded as Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s most brilliant victory, but the cost was so high that the Secessionist forces never really recovered. They were forced to surrender less than two years later. Opening with light percussion and just two piccolos (substitute two flutes if necessary) this bright and easy march builds relentlessly from beginning to end. Arr. Roland Kernen. Dans les années 60, le parolier Carson C. Parks écrit le texte d’une chanson aux délicats accents de la musique latine et de rock, qu’il intitule Somethin’ Stupid et qu’il interprète avec son épouse Gaile. La chanson passe inaperçue. Mais elle deviendra un grand succès peu après, lorsque Frank et Nancy Sinatra la chantent en duo. Plus récemment, Somethin’ Stupid s’est offert une nouvelle jeunesse. This march was written for the Durham MS Band in Lewisville, TX, an enthusiastic group of young musicians, growing in their technique and musicality and eager to sound like the big kids. Pride of the Maroon Dragons features a variety of articulations for the trumpets and upper woodwinds in the first strain, and a bold melody for the low brass and low woodwinds in the second. The trio features a smooth, legato melody in the clarinets and horns, followed by a melodic refrain in which every section has something important to say. Throughout the march, the percussionists have plenty to do on many different instruments, while the horns will be smiling quietly because they don't have to play any after-beats! / Date parution : 2022-10-12/ Répertoire / Marching Band
