There are several exercises to help increase technical facility including an excellent cross-picking exercise. Also there is a large single line section that includes jazz vocabulary and ideas to be played over certain chords and progressions. Learning and memorizing these single line studies expands the student's improvisational concepts and technique. The chord section includes the primary chord forms found in jazz and contemporary music as well as examples of turn-arounds, variations on twelve bar blues, and modal comping. The harmonized bass line section has four chord studies in a Freddie Green style. The Improvisation Course is a unique systematic approach to teaching improvisation. It consists of four lessons that has the student write out solos (with out an instrument) utilizing certain rules. Yeah ! est une série de sept pièces récréatives pour guitare, de moyennes difficultés, relativement brèves, en forme de song ou de chanson (style ABA) faciles de mémorisation. Elles peuvent être jouées séparément ou enchaînées et ne sont pas conçues ou ordonnées en degrés de difficultés. Les thèmes empruntent leurs matériaux aux musiques classiques, folk, pop et actuelles. Chaque pièce, faisant référence aux jours de la semaine, est écrite dans une tonalité différente, ce qui permet d'étudier des positions et des doigtés spécifiques. Ces différentes tonalités confèrent également à chaque pièce son caractère et son ambiance propres. Elles offrent pour certaines d'entre elles, des incursions dans le milieu du manche, facilitées par un large emploi de cordes à vide. Elles permettent ainsi de travailler avec plus de souplesse le déplacement du bras gauche (démanché). Les demi-barrés n'interviennent qu'exceptionnellement. En vue d'optimiser l'exécution, il est conseillé de bien respecter les doigtés des deux mains. L'ambitus en général n'excède pas la case XII (Samedi). Les pièces 'ternaires' (Vendredi, Samedi) devraient être jouées dans l'esprit 'shuffle' rencontré dans le jazz, c'est-à-dire jouées en appuyant légèrement les premiers temps pour accentuer l'effet 'swing'. While originally conceived as piano duets Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dances (Op. 39) have been transcribed for various instrumental ensembles including the orchestral version provided by the composer himself.
